Sometime near New Year I was in Yorkshire, at the Airedale Shopping Centre, which is not famous for their background music. This time it was good, though, Luv was on. Very suitable, as the cashiers there call you luv all the time ("Here you are, luv, anything else, luv?")

Hello Luv. Did you have a good holiday? Oh how I miss Yorkshire sometimes, lol. It's always nice to hear a bit of Travis when out and about. I find that when it happens to me, I stand really still in the middle of the shop until the end of the song and look like a right idiot!

Yorkshire was pretty much the same as ever, problems with gas and electricity, dustbin men, frost, drizzle… Plenty of sheep (there are so many different kinds of them, aren't there!?), scandals and murders on the news, shops closed because of flooding or burst pipes, new mosques being built, same as ever.

I tried to see if there was anything else going on in Leeds on New Year's day than the Leeds United vs. Middlesborough (the men of the family went there), and ended up spending about an hour at Waterstones' bookshop (and stopping myself from buying half of its contents), great books and good background music. Vampire Weekend was everywhere. Starbucks and some shops were open, but no museums. It was kind of fun to wander around the deserted city.

I always enjoy coming home and the first shower, our water pressure is superior to the English one!
