For those who own both the vinyl/LP version of Wreckorder as well as the CD (regular, not special edition) version, is everything contained in the CD liner notes also contained in the LP artwork? i.e. photos, lyrics, etc.

I'm thinking of purchasing the vinyl version of the album but I'm wondering if I'll miss out on anything by not purchasing the CD. Do all vinyl copies of the album also come with MP3's of the songs, or just the pre-order copies?

Thank you!

I have both.

The CD has a glossy magazine mint feel & pages. LP has lyrics, NO flip pages & an amazing medium sized poster of Fran. It's a more 'old school' (OS) feel of material plus packaging. By no means am I a vinyl aficionado, but I have 8 recent new release vinyls from Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Keane, Liam Finn, Crowded House & 2 OS second-hand ones from the latter. So I'm not totally ill-informed.

The artwork on Wreckorder's LP lyric inside fold-out flap is not on the CD & may create an impression of being vintage OS (70's etc, i.e. hippie clouds & yellow light). To me the whole cover wouldn't be out of place from some obscure 1970's artist. So I sorta wish they'd use the vinyl poster as the cover. That represents the youthful/boyish Fran we've aged WITH & grown to love.

Either way I'd suggest get all formats (reasons ranted in the final paragraph) where affordable &/or competitively priced (common folk adapt to scarcity & limited funds that way). Australian dollar reaching parity with US spurred on my purchase from Amazon & 'twas much cheaper than Fran's site (sorry Mr Healy & co)!

I truly believe on my grave nothing beats the crisp louder sound quality of an original CD vs MP3. I know the 'geeky IT hard-boofheads' will disagree, but there are nuances (some CDs play louder on a boom box [or other boom boxes/stereos], rather than the ripped 192kbps MP3 & vice versa ad infinitum), pros/cons in acquiring professional-industry-mass produced CDs, moreso-moreover than a pirated or purchased MP3.

PS: there are too many dynamics in the sound engineering & mastering from studio to factory to risk anything less than the original product CD or DVD/film. PPS: I feel good for veering off topic, not that it's a sin. Why do people say sorry for being off topic as if it's so shameful? A lot of things connect from unexpected sources you wouldn't dare believe, As Fran sang: '...I could be anyone...'

I have me.
