I totally caved. I decided I wasn't going to watch the youtube videos, but as soon as Fran posted the Spin article, I couldn't resist!
I like it a lot. I wonder if he collaborated with anyone on this track. |

Oh, yeah I've heard that one. ^_^ Just not any other songs yet. I know some people have watched other songs on live videos and whatnot. |

Not heard it yet. Not able to right now, so i'll listen tomorrow.
Totally agree. I also like to hear studio versions first. I've heard Holiday and As It Comes from YouTube from last year's Frandy tour, but i won't listen to any others that way. :) |

I've listened a couple of times and really like it.
Best first single since Sing. Blows Re-Offender, Closer and J. Smith out of the water, IMO.
I can't wait for this album! |

It sounds like you can hear Fran doing backing vocals too.
Here are the lyrics as I heard them:
It never rain but it pours
Do keep the wolf from the door
I see you sitting in silence
Outside my house
Quiet as a mouse
I tried to buy you roses
But all the stores were closed
And if I had a diamond ring
I'd wear it through my nose
Ah but I dance and I can't sing
A loser I suppose
So all I have is buttercups
All I have is buttercups
What is wrong with buttercups?
Who knows?
You said to have and to hold
Do let me in from the cold
I see you sitting in silence
Inside your house
Quiet as a mouse
I tried to buy you roses
But all the stores were closed
And if I had a diamond ring
I'd wear it through my nose
Ah but I can't dance and I can't sing
A loser I suppose
So all I have is buttercups
All I have is buttercups
What is wrong with buttercups?
Who knows?
And this could be life as we know it
I cannot see if you never show it
I tried to buy you roses
But all the stores were closed
I tried to buy you roses
But all the stores were closed
And if I had a diamond ring
I'd wear it through my nose
Ah but I can't dance and I can't sing
A loser I suppose
So all I have is buttercups
All I have is buttercups
What is wrong with buttercups?
Who knows?
Who knows?
Who knows?
Who knows? |

I am so excited to have something new from Fran and that it is a solo work which got me thinking for a while... At last it is coming out officially. Getting used to the idea of solo Fran. Really weird.
I like it. First impressions-wise, I am enjoying!
Joe, cheers for the lyrics. Something told me you were gonna do that again. :-D |

Seems to have universal acclaim on here then. ;D
I think it's good. Not great, but good. Perhaps more room for it to grow on me yet.
It could certainly be a Travis song. Put it this way, going off Buttercups I don't think there'll be too many people out there who enjoy Travis' music (more recent in particular) that don't like Fran Healy's. |

I really like it, it reminds me of 12 Memories songs. |
