Chronological Acoustic CD arrived from Amazon earlier this week & listening to that album's version of Falling Down stirred up primal/primeval emotions in me. It sort of harks back to a particular memory, but a memory nevertheless (formed, consolidated & treasured) of listening to Radiohead's The Bends on a lazy weekend, sun blazing (a little over a decade ago) & I was alone in the house.
It may as well have been me alone in the universe (a testimony to the power of Radiohead/Travis music), that type of nostalgic feeling of an older era on the cusp of ending then ASAP merging with a technology onslaught/consciousness paradigm shift seen on the brink of the 1950's. & them mix in imagery of Gary Oldman's film Immortal Beloved about Mozart. Now you know which song to play if friends/enemies call Travis throwaway pop.
