Currently reading "Paddington Marches On" with my daughter and there is a chapter where Paddington has to play cricket. Can anyone explain these phrases?

"There's a silly mid off and he's got a short leg."

"They tell me he comes from Australia so watch his googlies."

I believe silly mid off and short leg are two positions the fielding team take on the filed. A googlie is a type of spin bowl that the bowler can use
