since it seems that the US record company isn't doing diddly to get Travis' great music out there on the commerical airwaves where, heaven forfend, someone might discover it, maybe we should take this task into our own hands?
any ideas on what to do - i know we can call the stations etc. but is there anything else i wonder? let's talk.

I can't think of anything at the moment...besides what you've already mentioned.
We have a great new radio station in Detroit, 93.9 The River, that plays Travis quite a bit. "Closer" was in regular rotation and I've also heard "Sing", "Side" and "WDIAROM". Hopefully they'll continue this with "Selfish Jean." But our popular alternative rock station, 89X, hasn't been playing any of the new stuff and I know they played "Re-Offender" when 12 Memories first came out ... I'm going to e-mail those clowns >:/
So, Haz, have you never heard Travis on the radio? :( |

hey nikki, no i've never heard them on the radio over here :/ it's amazing, when they play boston the shows are always sold out n'stuff but you NEVER hear them on the rock radio stations in this town, it's really frustrating. the record company needs to drop a few coins to get them on the radio over here.
yeah aside for taking programming directors hostage it'll be the tried and trusted way -- phone the idiots and get Travis on the playlist. once more to the phone dear friends, once more!!!! |

The sad part is that American commercial radio is in terrible decline. All stations anywhere are either top 40, rap/hip hop or classic rock music. All the genres are fine but there is very little opportunity for alternative. College radio, Sirius satellite radio and "Music Choice" which is played over various cable outlets have played Travis and continue to play their new songs (I've heard Closer, Selfish Jean and Under the Moonlight so far on radio). Sirius & Music Choice continue to expand so let's hope with that comes more exposure. |

Haven't heard any Travis on the radio here in the Washington DC Metro area. Oddly enough, I do hear Travis in stores and restaurants though. |

yeah i'm the same way. i bet it's because stores and restaurants use some sort of satellite radio thingy that is independent of the playlisted commerical radio stations on earth. |

here in Lansing Michigan we have a great college station that plays just about any Travis you request, and lately they've been playing Closer and Sailing Away at least a couple of times a day.
I don't listen to mainstream radio anymore though :/
