Another celebrity is gone... Mr Dirty Dancing passed away today after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

"Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months,"

My husband used to tell me that people often told him he looked like Patrick Swayze. Huh?? I don't see it at all. I always thought he was joking about it. Then one day, we were on a train to Chicago and there was a mentally challenged man sitting across the aisle from us. He was challenged enough that someone else had to put him on the train and take care of his ticket and everything. So, we're riding along and this guy keeps looking at Don. Finally, he says (with a pretty severe speech impediment), "Excuse me sir, but has anyone ever told you that you bear a striking resemblance to Patrick Swayze?" It was hilarious, but of course I couldn't laugh right then. That's my Patrick Swayze story.

World? Oh, for pity's sake, what "world" would you rather I used? Retarded? Cognitively impaired?

Oh dear a typo , my bad :)

Anyway.

What people fail to realise in their attempt to be politically correct is this.

A label is a label, no matter how nice you think you are putting it.
I fail to see why you needed to point out this persons condition in your story.

I thought that is what made the situation funny. Even that guy thought my husband looked like Patrick Swayze...and I just don't see it.

I'm not saying the guy, himself, was funny. But it was necessary for the story in my opinion. Someone very dear to me happens to have a label so don't think I'm not sensitive to that.

Thank you, the hornet's nest is now sufficiently stirred.
