First of all id like to pre-face this by saying that this is in no way having a go at any fans, any boardies or the band. Just merely a venting of the Travis related frustrations that seem to have built up in my tiny brain over the last few months.. That is all.
If you know me from the board you will already know that im from Glasgow. My gripe, and I dont think im the first to state it, is that there has been very little Travis at all in the UK. Gigs, Promo, Interviews...ANYTHING!!
Now, I dont excpect any more or any less than any other fan from any other part of the world. Nor do I fell like Travis owe the UK fans anything. To me, im proud to be a Scot and will always be proud...But I also realise national identity is in no way a claim to own a band or to claim to have regular use of them..lol
But, and this is a big BUT. I do feel a wee tinge hard done by. I've supported the band for years and they seem to have forgotten about the UK fans. Im unaware if this is because of the recent rise in popularity in South America, or if the boys are having a real crack at getting exposure in North America. Both of which obviously expend a lot of time.
This would be all fine and dandy if I hadnt heard Fran in interviews saying that he is not bothered about exposure. Saying that the band had had thier time in the limelight and he was fine with the likeleyhood that that sort of fame and notoriety wont come the bands' way again. I like it this way, I love the fact I can see the band in smaller more intimate venues, and love the more obvious connection that this verberates when I see them. All in all the J.Smith era has been great as it has brought about that afformentioned change.
Just to sum up, again, I dont feel owed anything or excpectant. Suppose im just remeniscing and posted this to see how the board is, as its been a while.
Morethanme, I just pm-sent you a link to the previous recent thread in the same vein. It's a saturated subject lately. But for what it's worth, you aren't alone in your feelings. Outnumbered, but not alone.
Nicely worded post, btw, and I hope that the band appreciates how much we'd like to see them on home turf very soon.
ps. no more arguing on the subject please! This is the third thread with similar sentiments in a very short space of time - there's a pattern emerging, and maybe, just maybe, there's something to it!?!?!
Okay you're right! Travis are neglecting their UK fans, it's a fact! I wont argue anymore about this, no matter how pissed I am right now. To hell with everything, music is dead.
Also they're not concentrating on South America, Sweden is their number one priority right now.

Wheres your head at?? You have totally mis-understood the sentiment of what I posted.

Actually this was a reply to Tonie. I just get very angry when I see all of these negative vibes being directed at Travis atm. We should feel blessed about this band and stop complaining like spoiled kids. Travis hasn't been in my country since 2004.

Sorry, I really needed to quote this because it sincerely made me laugh. I'm not having a go at you or anything. You're entitled to your opinion and I think it's ok that you posted it if this is how you feel (even if it's a worn out topic). But I honestly think your views on the Travis/South America thing are way off, and I feel I should clear that out for you.
Travis' history in South America: the band has played gigs in Argentina, Chile, Venezuela and Peru only once in their whole career. And that was in 2007 / 2008. And never before. For example, they have never played in Brazil, which is one of the most important countries in the region.
In Chile and Argentina they played as part of a festival, and in Venezuela and Peru as the support band for REM. So we've never got a solo Travis gig... yet. :oP *crosses fingers*
Trust me, we're not keeping Travis away from you, so the reason you're looking for must be somewhere else :o).

I was about to post something, but Juli, you have summed up what I wanted to say.

Sorry, but exactly who's doing the complaining? Please read what you said. You complained, I did not. I worded my posts in this thread very carefully, and most definitely did not utter one word of complaint. I did this deliberately to prevent the last, rather unpleasant, post you've just made.

My post was a bit ironic, but seriously this subject makes my blood boil. You left it impossible for me not to reply with this post:
"ps. no more arguing on the subject please! " - Okay we're a few people that are saying the same thing so we must be right, no need to argue anymore.

It was nothing more than agreement with the person who started the thread. I wasn't picking a fight, rather the opposite. I was also suggesting the forum avoids a repeat of the previous debate which had two completely opposite opinions never meeting. The same would happen here, so I said, clearly, that it's been saturated, and nothing to gain by any more fights.
Like I said, I did not complain, but you, unmistakeably, did. (Travis haven't been to Sweden since 2004)
Cool it, you're way more angry than anyone else posting here! Boiling blood is distinctly unhealthy and not to be recommended.

Okay I'll leave it to you non-complaining people now, thanks for concerning about my health.
