(this probably isnt a very original thread. I tend to post things that have already been posted. Deal)

In anticipation of my roadtrip down to Michigan this weekend, Im loading up the ipod so that I don't have to bring/leave zillions of CDs in my car.
So, suggestions for music to keep me awake and happy over about...11 hours of driving this weekend.

This was our theme tune for road trips almost 20 years ago:

(Steve Earle: the Other Kind)

I never take a road trip without the Traveling Wilburys. I know, very corny. I especially like The End of the Line

The empty rocking chair :o(

"Every day is judgment day."

I also tend to take The Go-Go's on road trips, however Vacation tends to lend itself to speeding, unless you have cruise control.

I once had a near crash in a snow storm, found myself driving too fast on the left lane while listening to Depeche Mode's Music for the Masses, especially Behind the Wheel. So there's another song for the road trip ;^)

If you ever have to drive through Ohio, you may change your mind. Ohio cops target non-Ohioan drivers. They are ruthless! Totally without ruth!

But if Vacation is on, you can't help it, see? They have helicopters in the air tracking you and police a mile ahead that flag you down and then take you to the station when you don't have the cash on hand to pay the ticket.

I think Amy MacDonald, Fleetwood Mac, U2, Keane, The Cardigans, 10cc and CCR are very good roodtrip music, but that's just my personal Roadtrip taste ;) Beach Boys always work!

If you're in for some heavier music, maybe ZZ Top or Neil Young? Or why not Tom Petty?

WHAT??
I know you said this is Ohio, but Im now scared to drive in your country. The furthest ive gone, doing the driving, is like 2 exists across the highway into Buffalo for a hockey game.

I know I said no CDs, but I think im going to throw in the Beatles One album, just cuz.

Beach Boys. Good call Swede Boy.
Not sure I could name a single ZZ Top song though.

Oh yeah! That's Ohio for ya!
In Michigan you can drive as fast as you like, the speed limit is more of a suggestion in most areas. Except the few miles of Southfield Freeway in Allen Park on a Sunday.

ZZ Top is what got Fran pulled over in Michigan in April. You'd know them if you heard them, Kristy.

FAO Kristy, some of ZZ Top's most famous songs:

It's very good car-music I think, but Beach Boys will work out fine too :)
