As you all know I'm a bit of a twisted bollix, for years I have worn a black pilot jacket since I was about 12 I've always had one, I really do like them as they are comfy and they also make a little bit of a statement as they are usually worn by skinheads and bouncers, Personally I've always worn mine as an original Ska head, skinheads were originally into the music and if anything very anti-racist. However this look was "borrowed" by the new skins who ended up running in gangs and paki-bashing or the neo nazis, etc etc.

The thing is, I'm getting a little too old for this shit and was thinking of maybe buying a harrington jacket which is still an original "Ska" style but less agressive, however due to the resurgence of "mod" culture all these wee wanks that listen to the Babyshambles etc are running around wearing them, I had been lookin for one for some years but I quickly noticed a few years back they were becoming readily available, You can even buy them in fucking Burton's these days!!!

Or since I am now what a decade ago would have been middle aged I should just grow up and wear a more "normal" jacket ???

This gave me a chuckle, as I have recently given up the Princess style Reeboks I have worn since 8th grade. (I figure I've owned over 20 pairs exactly like this.)

After much deliberation, I decided to take a walk on the wild side and ended up with these. I have received so many compliments in the past few weeks that it's starting to get embarrassing.

Obviously, I'm not one to be doling out fashion advice, so good luck with whatever you decide.

i know a certain pint-sized tallaght trotter who would compliment me on your behalf (just like she did on the fred perry)if you got a harrington and say "is tusa amazing!"
....but don't let that sway you.
eitherway i think a harrington would make sense as more of a summer jacket

Yeah that's kinda what's putting me off getting one, I've wanted one for a good few years but now they're "cool" again I don't want one, kinda the reason I don't wear my PLO scarf anymore. I liked it when no one wore them and it was functional as I was a biker.

i was a bit worried that myself and my lovely friend might unfortunately be misinterpreted as hipsters, who apparently are hated, but hey, we wear what we like and i'm happy.plus i try to be honest about the music i do like and own up to not actually have heard some stuff even if all the cool kids already have the band tees for it.

thought you didn't wear your scarf because of clueless radio journos looking for soundbites?
does it irritate you that i prob have about 10 of those scarves at this stage?

No what annoys me is the fact that you can buy these fucking things in Topshop these days, About 5 years ago I spent a whole fucking day going round the whole of fucking Dublin City Centre looking for these bastard things to no avail. Eventually I asked my sister to bring me back a few from her holiday in Egypt.

As far as I can tell, and from personal feelings, Hipsters wear stuff to make a point not because it's comfy or because they like it, but to shock or rebel, they want to be ridiculed as they are that fucking insecure that ridicule makes them feel they are "different". Every single person in this world when they are growing up at some point or another feels they are "different" or they don't fit in. Hipsters deliberately want people to talk about them as they're that insecure they'd rather suffer ridicule than be ignored. Which is quite sh!t cause it doesn't matter how bad you look your still a fucking twat, all you are doing is advertising and confirming the fact.

You and ís tusa wear what you like. Not what you think other people will like or dislike !!

HARRINGTON!!

Aye it is proper annoying that loadsa young twats are going about wearing them, but they're mostly up their own arses and if you try talking to them about anything ska they don't really have much of a clue. But I still think Harringtons are the dog's bollocks, get a Baracuta one! They are luuush, I wish they did em in girls sizes :(
