Hey guys,

did you hear about fb changing the conditions of use - without getting accodance from the uses - without even informing old user about it?

According to the new conditions: everything you upload, write there - play -whatever - belongs - the moment it's on the net - to FB! There was case with this model-photograph who uploaded some pics - promoting himself - and fb downloaded them and published them -without even mentioning his name.

The just changed the contract - without informing the other partner of - the users!

Apperently in Switzerland as in Germany and Austria this is highly illegal but fb is subordinate to the US-laws -where tis is apperently legal..

So - what do angry user do? They delete they account -but even that's not possible anymore: FB reserves the right to collect all the data -info of a user - so the profile is just "inactivated", as they said, but not ever deleted!

ARGH this is shit, sorry but...big brother is a fly against that!

Nora

Another reason to stay away from that website :P

What do the people in charge of facebook have to gain by owning peoples personal stuff? :O

It was on the news this morning that they are retracting that new rule and are going back to the old rules.
Facebook Does an About-Face on Privacy Changes

And there is a difference between deleting your account permanently and a de-activated account. I read this article yesterday:
How to Delete a Facebook Account Permanently

This is just insane:

Delete everything out of your profile. Take down your pictures, delete you friends from your friends list, erase comments you've left for people and leave any networks or groups you have joined. Be sure to save your profile changes so they take effect and your Facebook page is virtually empty.

Send an email to privacy@facebook.com and ask that they permanently delete your account. Be sure you give your email address and put "Delete my account" in the subject line. Be clear that you want your account permanently deleted and not just deactivated.

Wait to get an email response from Facebook confirming that your account has been permanently deleted. This should take a few days.

If you don't hear back from Facebook within a week, email them again. Try emailing the same address you emailed in Step 2 again, as well as support@facebook.com and info@facebook.com.

Attempt to log in to your account once you get an email from Facebook. If you're unable to log in and don't get a message asking you to reactivate your account, your Facebook account has been permanently deleted.

Who has the energy to do all of this?

You don't have the energy for a few mouse clicks and an e-mail to protect your own privacy and property? It's not that difficult.

Well I meant deleting every comment you've ever posted, wouldn't that take like forever? And all the groups you've joined and your e-mails and photos, wouldn't it be fair to people if there was a "GOODBYE FOREVER FACEBOOK"-button.

Yeah, that would be easier. I guess I wouldn't be so concerned with comments I've made. I'd just want my photos off and get out of my groups and stuff.

*Warning: Rant*

I'm so angry at Facebook right now. This happens to coincide with this thing not letting me post on the walls of the groups I join unless I'm the admin.
I can post on the groups I administrate, but I can't post on the ones I'm just a member. It keeps showing me the little box with two words I have to write to check that I'm a real person. No matter how many times I do that, new words keep appearing. And I am spelling everything correctly. LET ME POST, DAMN IT!

And of course, you have the "are you tired of this? Check your account".
So I click on "Check your account". And it turns out it wants me to enter my mobile number so they can text me a code that I have to enter so I never have to experience this "security messure" again.
I'm not going to give you my mobile number! What if I don't have a mobile phone??

I hate Facebook right now.

I had facebook before and I think there's too much weird applications that people participates in, like "Do you think Alex has tried drugs" or "Has Alex ever had a homosexual experience?" Even if the answer to all of these statements are a big fat NO, what if people answers Yes and facebook gathers all of this information...I've also heard that employers check out peoples facebooks before employing them. I don't like the idea that if I ever go to a party and get caught with a bottle of beer in my hand, that moment could screw up my whole future...

You can set your account so that only your friends can see your profile. If an employer wanted to check my Facebook profile, he wouldn't be able to do it.

Well I don't know if Facebook will ever win my trust back, but on the other hand they already own most of my personal information so I'll probably return some day to get'em back! Lol!

you guys, Alex and Juli - you both mustn't fall for these applications and advertisements! :) There are some cool applications - but also just freaking shit :) LIke this "Do you think Nora's ever stolen something"....baah..don't even booooooooother reading/clicking/answering that - it's just nonsense - unless you reeeeeeeeeeaaally wanna know what your best friend's thinking or you wanna mock someone but otherwise..

Generally I don't like facebook that much - it's a bit confusing - but it's a pretty good thing to stay in touch with people. I don't have too much time to go out or call everyone I know - to be uptdated - and so it's much more simplier - easier to make plans for groups and stuff.

Also for my friends of the time living in the UK or from holiday the US etc. - it's much easier to stay in touch and sharing pics - which would be bad, if you've got to that with a normal e-mail system.

;)

The problem is that it's not a weird application or an advertisement. It's Facebook itself that doesn't trust me when I say I'm a real person that wants to post on the walls of the groups I've joined. And it says that in order to believe me and let me post, I have to give them my friking mobile number. Which will never happen.
