It's just another chance for the companies to earn some more money. A huge pile of commercial shit is what it is!
Stupid holiday!

Aww...sounds like someone really broke your heart!
But I agree, Valentine's Day is overrated. |

I agree.
The best Valentine Day I had was a few years ago when we went out with some friends. We were two boys and two girls, all single, but with no romantic interest in eachother hahaha. We went to walk by the river, had a drink and the guys bought us girls some flowers and gave us a ride home. That's the only time I got anything for Valentine's Day, and I had a great time.
My friends rock! :o) |

I'm gonna agree with the commercialism part.
Most holidays are in place to remind people of something that they don't remember the rest of the year.
If you don't remember to love your sweetie every day, then there's something wrong. You don't need to spend money to do that.
And there's no reason to make people feel bad if they don't have a love. |

Haha that would be sweet!
"Buy your love something special for Valentine's Day"
I hate that crap!
If I had someone special, it would be Valentine's Day every single day for her. Yes I'm a true romanticist, I don't need stupid Valentines Day to prove that :)
The only thing this day does for me is making me feel lonely :S |

I don't think it totally sucks. I mean, you can say that about all holidays...that they're all commercialized.
While I agree that you should love your significant other or your friends, or whoever everyday, I think that sometimes it's just fun to have a designated day to celebrate--whether it be the commercialized Valentine's Day, or a day you designate yourself. And that's what it is for me...it's just fun. It's not a big deal or anything, but I'm happy for those who do celebrate it.

We're not going to anything unusual tomorow, the usual Saturday programme: bit of work in the morning, a long walk after lunch, feed the kids and let them take over our bed and the bedroom tv while we have a meal on our own with a nice bottle of wine. |

I don't know, I think this day can be really cute if you're with someone. Let's face it: most people need a designated day to do something romantic or just spend some more time with their loved one. I'm single but it doesn't make me feel bad or anything. Just a normal day.
Although I hope last year's Valentine's Day won't ever repeat itself. Now that one was awful! |

Haha I totally agree with you :)
Yes most holiday have been commercialised - but this day was actually invented buy a flowerscompanie...hehe
I never got something for a valentine - I don't think it's that big here. Although in High you could send someone in a school roses - so yes I got roses - but from good old schoolfriends - so nothing romantic -. It's jsut fun when they come into your classroom - and give you the flowers and read something in front of everyone - (perfect chance to mock someone! :) ) and you've got less school...
but beside that
nope
Stupid day,
I'm gonna spend it with my dog ;) |

I think it was in school I started hating this day actually, just because it led to more mocking and those who were popular in the class got yet another chance to brag about it. I was always the outsider in school, so I sat there in my corner every year, hoping for some flowers at my desk, but it never happened :(
Otherwise I love flowers :D |

My friends tended to mock me with that sort of stuff because they knew that I hated when they would come in and bring attention towards me.
And for TheBoyWithAName, flowers for you!

I really think it's a bad idea to promote Valentine's Day in school...
Some guy ends up with 10 flowers and gets all sturdy and loaded with self confidence and then the rest of the class ends up with nothing and feel like a bunch of dorks.
Don't meen to sound bitter or anything, but I just don't like it ;) |

In Finland it's been watered down as "Friend's day", really annoying. In the past I've received "Happy Friend's Day" messages from female colleagues… weird. |
