I'm just curious.
Name your country
Do you have Saturday mail delivery?
How much does a regular stamp cost?
USA
Yes
42¢, will go up to 44¢ in May
They keep talking about stopping Saturday delivery to reduce costs, because they've been raising the cost of stamps about every 6 months. It is a law that mail be delivered 6 days a week and for some reason, it's a big deal to try to change that law. |

Just went up to 54 cents. Was 52 until January.
We have these awesome new P stamps though. Well, they are a couple years old now. Does anyone have those? Instead of saying 54 on them, they say P so they are permenant. So if I still had these stamps in a year, but they raise the price again, I can still use them. Saves you from having to buy those stupid 1 cent stamps to make up for it. |

- 0,80 €, seems to go up all the time. I've invested in those forever stamps.
Service keeps getting worse, our local post office is about to close (it'll be merged with another one), letters that are supposed to be delivered by next day often fail unless you pay for "express" service…

Germany.
Yes.
0,55 € (letter, national)
0,70€ (letter, inside the EU)
the costs for national delivery were actually reduced in 2003. (letters from 0,56€ to 0,55€ and postcards from 0,51€ to 0,45€).
on the other hand, international delivery became more expensive (though I've been ignoring this successfully for years now, and my letters and postcards have always arrived) |
