I have no direction
Tonight is no reception
No I know no reflection
My prayer short of interception
Grab your words around me
Round & round until they surround me
Apologies if this thread has been posted before. & again, I take no responsibility about the accuracy of these lyrics. I transcribed it from the vinyl version & have no digital copy of STS (EV).
I did the transcription of lyrics 12-13 hours ago, & ATM it is 2.56am here in my city: so I really can't play the vinyl again at a decent volume for me to grasp if the above lyrics are accurate.
Peace The **** Out Now... |

Just a quick word of thank you to the Trinity site for sending me an extra copy of Something Anything on vinyl. The first copy arrived last week: signed/autographed. The second copy - along with Song To Self vinyl; arrived some days ago. I'm a bit curious why on the vinyl, there is an incomplete phone number etched near the centre? It appears on both STA copies. Not complaining per se, just a bit bedazzled & in awe/elevated in mood etc et al. |

PHONE003 is the code for this particular release, 'PHONE' because of Red Telephone Box, the record label, and 003 because it's the third release (after All I Want To Do Is Rock and J. Smith). It is a bit weird having PHONE on the vinyls though :) |

I have no direction
Tonight is no exception
No light
No reflection
All my prayers your interventions
Wrap your words around me
Round and around till they surround me
By the time you hear this I'll be gone |

Thanks Fran. My favourite part of the song, both lyrically and musically. :) |

Francis Healy is that really you? I ran away from you & now I'm in? Softly you go into some crowded room.
Homo-sapien I am & dearly looking for a furore just like you. Well I don't even know which way I churn
My left side is the wright slide. I'm writing to teach you, but I don't wanna leach of you.
3 crimes & you win, or lose?
.. .. .. .

Is that what it's always been? I could've sworn the fifth line used to be different... Anyway, doesn't matter; love the middle 8. |

If I may, I believe Fran is being atheist in these lyrics. Line 5 says it all: only human beings can answers our prayers: no divine intervention - amazing word-play Fran+
Words/lyrics/poetry/quick verses from books e.g. Orwell's 1984 or Dawkin's The Blind Watchmakers are all humans can & will rely on: unless you are a Rainman/Dustin Hoffman/Tom Cruise idiot savant prodigy/prodigal son... |
