I just don't get it, the whole Bruce Springsteen "The Boss" thing. I don't think he's that great of a singer. He over-sings everything to the point that it sounds like he's going to burst a blood vessel. None of his songs particularly "speak to me." Born to Run sounds like kind of a mess, in my opinion. I grew up in a blue-collar town and all that, but I still just don't understand the appeal and why this guy is hailed as such a rock hero.
Why is he so popular?

I think he's good! =)

You can't explain what's good, you have to feel it to understand.. I guess it's all about taste and what you can connect with..

I don't feel it.

I mean, I can stand bad singing if it is accompanied by excellent lyrics. I can embrace bad lyrics if they are sung by a beautiful voice. I'll even occasionally take bad music and bad singing for eye candy.
I'm just getting nothing from him, maZn.

I can't explain it at all, The Boss my arse!!

He's just another mediocre middle of the road songsmith who in my opinion is only popular due to the way he is marketed.

Well I can't make you like him, even though I'd like to ;)
Personally I think some of his lyrics are very clever and I enjoy his voice, but hey I'm a big Dylan fan as well(no comparison made).

Hmmm, personally I really like him. Haven't heard the new stuff yet but I really enjoyed the previous album and a lot of the old ones. I think if his songs don't speak to you, there's nothing we can do about it, Kayte. lol.

I'm pretty neutral about him. Generally don't care for his music but I do really like this one

I'm on Fire

I just an interview where he says he made a mistake by making an exclusivity deal with Walmart given all the criticism of their labor practice.

I always admire when people can admit their mistakes instead of making stupid excuses but his explanation, "we didn't vet it enough" was weak to me.

You're telling me that someone who supposedly a blue collar hero has never heard any critiques of Walmart??

The new record hasn't done much for me yet, but Magic was MAGIC and The Seeger Sessions is a classic!

I'm On Fire is a very good track too!

I didn't enjoy The Rising that much, but if we go back to Lucky Town and all records before that we're talking genious stuff!

This is the best track from the new record even if you can hear where that riff came from:

Outlaw Pete

Thank you! I could not agree more, Kayte! I feel the exact same way about Bruce.
