Do you feel a twinge deep inside your soul when you look at this list? That's the sharp, strangulating feeling of guilt - the knowledge that you helped in the slaughter of these innocent songs. What did they ever do to you? Sure, some of them may be a bit sub-par... maybe even the odd self-confessed 'album filler'... but they tried their best! THEY TRIED THEIR BEST! Now go and think about what you've done. And then come back and vote for the next exciting addition of Song Showdown below! Wahay!
After a rather traumatising night at the hotel, the (remaining) songs are ready for the Song Showdown competition ahead. Now Song Showdown battles are a rather violent affair. Songs are paired up, shoved onto a battlefield, and demanded to rip each other to shreds before advancing to the next stage. Picture Roman Gladiator fighting, only machine guns and bazookas are actually allowed. Granted they weren't invented in Roman times in the first place, but they certainly weren't banned on the rules list. Trust me, I looked.
Anyway, all that matters is only one song in every pair can make it. It's your job to decide which song wins. That's right, you're to give me the name of the winner this time, hence giving me 32 songs in total.
Now it seems that the ghost of J. Smith has set a curse on the random number generator, since some of the pairings are frankly evil. But hey, as you can well gather by now, Song Showdown isn't some pleasant family entertainment show, it's twisted, bloodthirsty carnage. This competition isn't about second place. There's no room for runners-up. It's all about the winner, so keep that in mind when you vote.

First of all, just let me say that some of these rounds are truly horrible. You've got The Beautiful Occupation v I Love You Anyways. I'm not a fan of either of 'em and yet you put Quite Free up against one of the only songs I'd put above it, Side. Unbelievable.

1. I actually feel glad that the right songs were eliminated. :)
2. These pairs will kill ME even more than the group stage! In almost every pair the songs are equal...Must be the fact that I love these songs a bit more than the ones that left us in the group-stage!

I don't have ONE fav Travis song, I have like TWENTY fav Travis songs, in different ways ;(

| That's fine. :) If we just want to find the Board's number one song then it's ok but the placing of all the others doesn't mean anything. A song knocked out in this round could go head to head with a song in the semi-final and beat it. Songs like Sing and Turn would beat most songs in the next round. :) But it's the Board's FA Cup and they is the rules so it's ok. :) |
