Edit: Song Showdown! Now with new added controversy!

Hi all, welcome to the Song Showdown News & Discussion centre. I've made one of these pretty much every Showdown as far as I can remember so, as the great Glass Onion once said, I'm not about the change. This is where you will get the latest Showdown news, and this is where you shall talk. About Song Showdown. I'll force you if I have to, but you will talk.

Have you been affected by Song Showdown? How do you feel Song Showdown is going? What songs are you surprised to see being voted out by others? Do you like pickled onions? Send us your thoughts to this very post, and you will automatically be entered into our Song Showdown prize draw, where you may have the chance of winning a free holiday to Paris! Get posting peeps!

[Entries submitted after Song Showdown will not be counted, terms and conditions apply, batteries not included (nor need to be included), please consult our imaginary hotline for further details]

Urghh, pickled onions! I'd prefer to eat glass ones!

Btw, I hope the free holiday doesn't include a night at the hotel where the songs slept, I don't fancy being chopped up by a commonly-named ghoul :S

I think we (as in everyone except for the ever-impartial Luke) should start a campaign to get a song to win... if only Rick Astley was a song! Any suggestions?

PS. Imaginary hotline... I guess you didn't find any willing victims, er, volonteers to be polite to non-existent emails? ;)

LMAO. Seriously, I think we need to make a “reasons why Luke is my hero” thread next.

For the most part, I think the majority of folks are voting off the weaker songs, but then some of you are just NUTTY and are voting off freakin’ classics!

And Luke, I hope you’ve seen Paul’s post. He obviously didn’t read the directions. LoL!

PS: I don’t like pickled onions alone…but I do like them with pickled herring. Yum.

I agree with pretty much most of that.

Colder? Humpty Dumpty Love Song? Battleships? U16? ARE YOU PEOPLE BONKERS?
Relationships have been altered due to this showdown!

I would like some free unneccesary batteries though please.

Yes I've spotted the controversial Paul post and have not included it in the vote. :)

I don't understand some murders, life is too cruel...
Hope they'll be buried in a pretty graveyard, at least.

Pickled onions?

...never ate any...

Opinions are funny. Some people have voted for Quite Free. In my little opinion, it's certainly one of the best Travis songs of the last 7 years. Quite a few, maybe even a couple more, votes for Last Words. Again, brilliant song. Not sad to see Get Up or Out In Space gone. Not 100% sure, i've not counted, but it looks like both of those are gone. And Midsummer Nights Dreamin got a load too so that looks dead. I like it, but i think i voted for it too so can't complain! lol Broken Mirror looks in trouble which is probably the most disappointing one so far. My 6th favourite song on Ode! :)

Oooh!! I want to kill songs too! I hope Anne's Ode arrives soon (I take this opportunity to thank you, Anne, you have no idea how happy you've made me!!!!)!
I wish I could save Falling Down and cruelly murder New Amsterdam!

With all this talk about pickling, I've had an idea! When the songs have been brutally murdered, we can pickle them and they'll be preserved forever! They might have a bit of a vinegar aftertaste, but it's better than nothing. Go get vinegar and a huge jar Luke!

;)

Make sure it's proper distilled vinegar, not one of those artificial ones if you're using the traditional (Russian/Finnish style) spirits vinegar. On the other had in UK you might want to use malt vinegar, and don't forget spices!

Midsummer Nights Dreamin seems to be everyones least favourite Travis-song...

By the way, are some of you thinking of voting tactical?
Kill some strong songs early so that your own personal favourites will make it through the group rounds ;)
