(This is not a religeous debate! But feel free regardless of your beliefs to comment as always)

What do you think? Are we the result of millions of years of random mutations leading to evolution millions of years ago, or have you another explanation or idea, be it scientific, religeous, or personal.

No Darran, I'm afraid that all sports games especially for consoles are absolutely retarded.

Your views on evolution or other? :D

I think you the one whose subjects are retarded actually.

You keep posting the same topic under different guises trying to get folks to bite who believe in something different from you only for you to belittle them and their beliefs.

You need to knock the shit stirring on the head.

I see what he's doing, it's guess the Alan Partridge quote. This one is "Evolution not Revolution..... You want me to Evolve, not.... Re-Volve?"

Most posts are people looking for an opinion or subjective point of view or just input on a topic. I'm not 'shit-stirring' I'm getting to know people on a grander level than "what do you think of this (insert track, song, film, country, sausage etc here)". My first post in the line of opinions since i started posting again after over a year was about crystal healing, the next was what people thougt of an article about prayer, and the next was where people put themselves on a theist to atheist scale. This is specifically about evolution.
I enjoy learning more complex things about people than what their screen name means and what team the support. If I happen to disagree, I'll say that I do, but most importantly I'll say WHY and give reasons - therefore what I do is perfectly innocent and justifiable.
What justification does one have for saying "I like this football team", someone disagreeing for no apparent reason since scoring in general is randomised based on game, weather, location and player paramaters. If you don't want to contribute, you don't need to say anything - or soon you'll find someone telling you not to post the things that interest you.

EDIT : If you look at those posts reaching nearly 1000 views in a week, and my sceintific posts about big bang, relativity, and infinity from last year, I have just as many friends on the board interested as not - the majority of people, whether the minority want to admit it or not, have told me they like the change of pace and the 'unique' posts - and those are quotes, not dillusions of granduer or mere self-flattery

there's a book called selfish jean? seriously?

to the subject...well my father's a reverend...therefore - i probably should say: no way, I believe in God...but. Can't. Not anymore anyway. So... No. I definitely believe in science, in humanity, friendship - in love. Though - it's nothing but a bunch of hormones, and neurological transmitters... - i believe.

So I guess I'm a believer of the big bang-theory...They're trying to prove it now...in Geneva...(CH)...Who knows. Maybe they'll come up with an answer..Otherwise we're stuck to our beliefs ;)

We were knitted by space monkeys.

And on a scale of one to seven, one being "Strong Believer: I do not question the existence of space monkeys, I KNOW they exist", and seven being "Strong Non-Believer: I am 100% sure that there are no space monkeys", I am a definite one, I would say.

No matter the fact that I believe in God, I don't believe that Earth was created exactly the way it says in the Bible.

Evolution is the scientific answer, and I belive in that. Actually I think it's quite disturbing that in some schools, pupils are taught 'creationism'. No matter what you believe, no one should pass off a theory as science if it's not scientifically proven.

'Creationism' belongs in religion classes, not science classes.

does the lack of gravity in any way effect the knitting process? Do the space monkeys also make sock monkeys? Do they take custom orders?

For the folks who have an opinion on these philosophical/ theological threads:

Davesurman is right that many threads here are trivial, BUT so what? There is space here on the forum for serious debate AND chit chat.

So, here's a crazy thought:

If your preference is for music/ food/ family/ lists type threads, post there. If you want to debate with Dave, go right ahead in threads like this. There's no law to say one type of thread is better than another. If you don't like a particular thread, leave it alone and post somewhere else! If you've nothing to say at all, just read and lurk.

Or better still, stop complaining and start a thread on a topic that interests you! :)

Seriously :) It's written by Richard Dawkins, a quite famous biologist. It's about molecular biology... or genetics, written in a way that everyone can understand.
