From another thread, where the notion of a B-sides album was brought up- which Travis B-side would make a good first single if the band were to release a B-sides album
Understandably, it would then be a single and not a B-side, but like i said- theoretically
Your thoughts?
I'm going to give my vote to either Green Behind The Ears, Village Man, or The Connection :) |

Aha. My second idea of the evening stolen by someone else. ;) Hehe.
Yes, like i said, if released as a single the song that would be promoting the b-sides album would no longer be a b-side but i don't think it is that important. But we've seen with Ode how little they sell without promotion. Just imagine a b-side album... Top 100 at all? Anyway, Village Man would be ok. I still think Life And Soul Of The Party. :) Maybe one from the last album... This Love. Single like song. :) |

I think Village Man because it's got a sort of contradictory ethic to it. I like that |

I honestly think if a B-side album was promoted by using a b-side as a single, than the universe would explode. Plus, would the band then release other tracks on top of the b-side single, and would that make them, in effect, C-sides?
*head explodes*
But honestly, Village Man would be it.
And that brings the next question. Would they release the original, or do a new version?

High As A Kite pops to mind.
Or Unbelievers.
Have to say '20' is most definitely my favourite, but it's not single material. |

Couldn't agree more- my second favourite Travis track after More Than Us (cos let's face it, NOTHING beats that with me!) |

It wouldn't happen, a b-sides album would JUST be a b-sides album. It's a bit of an unwritten rule in the industry. Even The Masterplan - with some of the amazing stuff on that - didn't spawn a single till The Masterplan istelf was released about 12 months ago and 10 years late.
but hey, that's boring. If, IF it happened, I'd go for
1. Unbelievers - unbelievable chorus.
2. Say Hello
3. Used To Belong maybe? Or Green Behind the Ears which I reckon would have done very well if it actually HAD been a single in the GF era. Or Know Nothing. |

All true. Especially the Say Hello bit. Listened to this for the first time in ages last night- really awesome track! |

That'd be a pretty cool idea for which ever song they chose to release as the single. Or they could just make a new song all together to promote it. Kinda like they did with the "Singles" album.

I don't understand what you're referring to. Do you mean they wouldn't re-record any tracks if they chose to do a B-Side album? Travis are their own record label now though, so can't they do whatever they want? In interviews they said at some point they'd like to do a B-side album, or that it's a possibility.

Which raises another point- could it be possible at all, since technically the songs released before would belong to Independiente and not RTB? |
