The company (LIN TV) that owns the NBC station in town (along with others around the country) is having a contract dispute with our cable provider- Time Warner.
These greedy bastards are so stubborn and couldn't reach an agreement so guess what? Since last Thursday we haven't had NBC.
NBC people!!!
Both sides are running smear campaigns against the other. I'm seeing more ads about this than I am about the presidential campaign. It's something to do with the free signal for the government and the NBC station wanting revenue for that. The ads contradict each other and every article I've read just interviews both sides but it's irritating because the articles never feature an objective explanation of the situation. How am I supposed to know what is really going on if you only give me their talking points?
I really don't even care, I just want to be able to watch The Office live and not on the frakkin' computer!!!!! |

Buy an antennae (like the old rabbit ears), then you can bypass the evil cable dudes. |

rabbit ears wont work for long. In..January or something they are switching signals so that rabbit ears will no longer get anything.
And Anne..that sucks! Although I do quite enjoy watching tv online. |

Haven't tried at this house but at our old house we once tried the antenna thing and we couldn't really see anything.
I'll have to see.
Example of the campaign They were broadcasting the instructional video on the NBC channel all weekend but now they are showing bad movies. Like really bad movies.

You just have to get a converter box and the gov is giving coupons on rebate certificates or something so people can get them for free, if I'm not mistaken.
Or if you already have a digital TV, then no problemo. |

Although, should i question why the government is giving out rebates for tv related things when there is an economic crisis?? |

No, they are in control. It is not for us to question.
I think it is because the government is the one requiring all TV stations to start broadcasting in digital, so they have to eat the cost of switching all the people who don't have cable to satellite. |
