I was listening to Good Feeling on my iPod today (not something I do a lot of these days, listening to full albums. Usually just whack it on shuffle or a playlist) and it struck me that All I Wanna Do Is Rock has to be one of the best starts to a debut album ever. It's a fantastic opening tune and introduction to a band's career and the only other one I can think of with the same kind of impact is Rock N' Roll Star, off Definitely Maybe.
Any other suggestions? |

+ "blue suede shoes" by elvis presley from his self-titled debut.
+ "astronomy domine" by pink floyd [piper at the gates of dawn].
+ "sunday morning" by the velvet underground [the velvet underground and nico].
+ "good times bad times" by led zeppelin from their self-titled album.
and surely
+ "i wanna be adored" by the stone roses from their self-titled debut.
these are my candidates, of course together with "all i wanna do is rock". it's a great introduction too. (; |

I also quite like Yellow, even if it has been played to death. It's the rest of theshite the continue to churn out I have a problem with.

I agree with "All I Want To Do Is Rock" and "Yellow"...I also think Keane's "Somewhere Only We Know" is a great one. |

haha, Ok, you may want to remember this...
Yellow is a fucking amazing tune, the first time I heard it the hairs on the back of my neck stood up, it was that good. It rolls, it flows, it's just a damn good tune. I remember thinking who the fuck are these guys this is amazing stuff, it also took a while to "break through" to egular playlists and for a while it was great to hear it getting the airplay it deserved but like all decent stuff these days they couldn't leave it alone.

Yellow is adorable, but it's not the opening track of Parachutes. That album opens with "Don't Panic". (; |
