Just wanted to tell you all about yesterday. A little self indulgent? Yes, but I have no-one else to tell! So forgive me.
When I found out about the HMV signing, I decided to tell a white lie to get out of work early (I work 30 miles from Liverpool). I got a taxi at 3pm from work, went to the train station and caught a train to Liverpool Lime Street. Once there, I pegged it to HMV and waited with baited breath.
When our boys came out, I realised how close I was to them and was overjoyed. They played Friends, and I fell instantly in love with it. The chord changes are so beautiful, and Frans vocal was magnificent (despite nearly choking earlier on a half masticated Snickers!)
Ode To J.Smith in hand, I got in the queue to get it signed. When I got to the front, I realised I was standing next to Fran, and completely went to pieces! He was very kind and let me have my picture taken with him. I didn't realise at the time, but Dougie got in on it too. Still shaking, I collected my then signed Album and Academy ticket (Thank you Dougie for the 'Hi Sue!') and went on my merry way.
I arrived at the academy in plenty of time and shivered outside for a bit (I forgot my coat), but it was worth it once I got in. I loved the Republic Tigers - they reminded me of Rush (Does anyone remember them?) and I waited with anticipation for Travis. I wasn't disappointed - they were amazing as ever. I loved the set list - lots of old and new. Loved it when Dougie missed his 'hey/yes' cue on Tied to the 90's' and couldn't stop giggling, and also panicked when I thought Andy was gonna go crowd surfing, guitar in hand!!
To top it off, after the boys finished with WDIAROM, I walked to my husbands car half a mile away and got absoluteley drenched!! Brilliant.
Thanks so much guys, you're everything I always believed you to be and I won't forget yesterday in a hurry x x x
I'm glad you had a great time! I'm hearing a lot of good stuff about The Republic Tigers...that's great! I got their album the other day, and I love it. From what I hear, they seem to be good live too!
I agree with Anne...I'd love to hear More Than Us live. Ooh, and Tied to the 90's too, woohoo!
