The german magazine Musikexpress has a OTJS review, I can't find it online so I try to translate it. Please, german boardies, help me to translate the italic words!! Thanks. Here we go:

Travis
Ode to J. Smith
Vertigo/Universal
Nothing for prejudgers, but for those about to Rock: The Scots shake off their smirks and thrill you.
Midlife crisis? Oh well, there is no 40+ member at Travis yet. Return to better values? Oh well, even on their as rockig remembered debut Good Feeling wurde derart losgehirscht. Reinvention? Oh well, so far there was neither such a Hardrock-guitar-solo like on "Something Anything" nor a Hardrock-roarrr like on "Long Way Down" anyway. "In the past our sound was so slippery you could almost slip on it. That's not the case this time.", suggests bassist Dougie Payne. The band needed just 14 days to, well, hinrotzen their album. But don't worry: Ode To J. Smith is through and through Travis despite of all E-guitars and distorted basses. But even more exciting than at last. Since The Man Who they didn't schaufeln so many potential singles on one album: the Schunkler Last Words (incl. familiar Banjo) and the Prog-Popper J. Smith (incl. far from familiar choir inferno) just to name them as the most obvious hits. To elect the reliable Song To Myself as single in advance may im Vergleich dazu eine fade Nummer-sicher-Entscheidung sein, but hey, even this track could have recovered (retten) the recent U2 albums.
VĂ–: 26.9.

Puh, that was hard work for me! Thank you, LEO! I hope you understand all this stuff... Feel free to correct it. The best statement of this review for me is the last sentence!!!! I don't know the exact words/translation of what Dougie said, do you know?

And NO, I don't translate these two pages of the report! Buy the magazine! If I'm allowed (Fran????), I could photograph the pics and post them here.

On the musikexpress site there is a nice pic:

and a little summary of the report:

Done! Geschafft!

The picture is GORGEOUS! Yay, thanks for the translation, it's nice to see a good review :)

P.S.: Eledh's just back from England, she went to see a couple of gigs: she'll be back to working to the surprise soon, ehe.
