I went to the Weezer concert in Detroit last night with my cousin and was happily surprised that they played “What’s The Story Morning Glory” for Noel, as that was the song he was injured during in Canada. Weezer ain't no Travis, that’s for sure, lol, but it was a good concert overall, despite the moronic Weezer and Angels and Airwaves fans who were pushing, moshing, groping, throwing things and acting like freakin’ idiots the entire night. I got hit in the head by a crowd surfer flying over me. My cousin almost got into a fight with some chick next to us.
The good thing was that Weezer played a lot of their hits including “Say It Ain’t So” (yay!!) and “The Sweater Song” featuring Tom DeLonge of Angels and Airwaves (ex-Blink182 singer), "Hash Pipe" and a few from Pinkerton, which made me really happy. Another highlight for me was the new, catchy song “Troublemaker”. Love it!
I was bummed I couldn’t meet Moz. He had something come up at work and couldn't make it to the show. I was looking forward to seeing his son play on stage. For the encore, Weezer had a ton of fans with various instruments on stage jamming with them. They sounded like crap, lol, but it was a cute idea.
Oh, and Lauren, Tokyo Police Club were pretty good. I like their sound, but all their songs sound the same.
So, overall…good show, shit fans. I now appreciate Travis fans even more. We rule! We know how to have a good time and rock out without being complete jackasses. lol!
Edit: Oh, and to answer your text from last night Anne, we were really close. No seats, but I'd say about 5th "row" on the floor.
they are here tonight...sigh i wont be there.
But Jason Mraz in 3 weeks and Coldplay the week after that (i keep repeating in my head to make myself feel better...)
Glad it was a good show,Nikki, despite the morons! And yes, we are awesome, lol. Hmm, i want to find a clip of my beloved Rivers covering Oasis.

Sounds like fun! i was a much bigger fan of weezer before the broke up and lost matt sharp,he made the band what they are, they're playing here soon but i don't think that i will make it, i do however have tickets to see oasis in december!:-)....
I was listening to an interview with Rivers on my drive home from work and he sounded more normal and happy than he has in a long time. good for him.
But he mentioned that there is a Nirvana component to tonights show..Nikki, did they do a Nirvana cover? And i hear he jumps on a trampline. awesome!
And then they played the Sweater Song and i sang really loudly in my car and relived the days when we used to have Sweater Song sing-a-longs on hockey roadtrips.

I think they switch it up between the Nirvana and Oasis covers. I'm glad we got Oasis, I must say. I'm not a big Nirvana fan.
Yeah, Rivers is a lot more normal these days. He, like, actually talks 'n' stuff, lol! :P He has a YouTube page where he communicates with fans and they actually wrote a song together! All the fans chipped in different components, like lyrics, chords, etc...pretty awesome and very entertaining to watch the process. Sorta reminded me of something Fran would do. Like the "Friends" thing. Rivers is really funny on the videos. Here are the first two if you wanna watch:
They get weirder and weirder as he and the fans get more into the songwriting process. I think he likes to experiment with the functions on his camera or movie making software, lol. If you go to "other videos by this user" on the side, you can watch 'em all.
ive seen some of those, they are pretty entertaining!
I like nirvana, but i would prefer an Oasis cover too. I'll check out the setlist after the show to see what they did

Woohoo, Jason! Lucky you, I have to wait until December 4th to see him. ; ) Quite a long time, especially as the last time I saw him was in 2005! Far too long! I'm counting away the days...
he was here in May and for some reason is back already! oh well, im not complaining.
Nikki, i cant find last nights Toronto Weezer set list, but from one a few shows ago it looks like they did both Nirvana's Silver, as well as Morning Glory.
