I loved the Jamaican girl's celebration after she won the Gold! She was so cute jumping up and down and smiling from ear to ear. Aww! Good for her! I think she's only 21 years old.
i also loved that she ran with her lips pressed out as far as they could go! it makes her go faster, lol
Jamaica must be having a party right now! 4 of the 6 100m medals go to them. that is pretty impressive |

at 61 years old, and in his 9th olympics, equestrian Ian Miller won his first medal today! And just months after his wife died of Cancer.
I will ignore the fact that I think the horses should actually get the medals, and be happy for Ian!
I dont know if he is known outside of Canada, but he is kinda a legend from the 80s and 90s when his horse, Big Ben won like 40 show jumnping events. I shed a tear when that horse had to be put down a number of years ago. |

Nastia Liukin just got jipped out of a gold on the uneven bars. That is the stupidest tie-breaking procedure I have ever heard of. |

what was the tie breaking procedure? I turned to see Bela Karolyi complaining about it, but not saying what it actually was. |

If everything goes the way it's going (Argentina 3 - Brazil 0), our football teem will play the final against Nigeria!
We can deffend the gold we won in Athens! :o)
I think it's AWESOME that a southamerican and an african country play the final! Even if we don't win :oP |

I'm having trouble finding where it is outlined exactly, but from my understanding...
There were 7 judges who each give their own score and then the overall is averaged. For the tie-breaker they look back at the 7 scores, drop the highest and lowest and then take the average. He and Liukin were still tied. So they dropped the next highest (or lowest?). He was left was 9.1,9.1.9.0 and Liukin was left with 9.0,9.0,9.1, so He was awarded gold and Liukin silver.
I just think that throwing out all those scores kind of undermines the reason why they have multiple judges scoring the event. And it is quite stupid that they can't just both be awarded the gold like in most sports. |
