Oh geez...I really hope he doesn't go. I thought he wasn't allowed to leave the state anyway? What a train wreck.

Yeah I guess I hadn't thought about how him going to CO would break his bail conditions. And it's not like that's a low profile event! So that's kind of weird that they felt the need to say keep away. They could have just said, "well he can't come anyway." So maybe they're trying to put some pressure on him to feel ashamed and quit???

As if that'll work. He is the most prideful person on the planet I think.

They were going to allow him to go. Without jail clothes and without a tether.

Yes, here's the article (I don't see how one judge an overrule another like this):

Judge Allows Kilpatrick To Attend Democratic Convention
Aug 14, 2008

A Wayne County judge has changed Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick’s travel restrictions.

Judge Leonard Townsend ruled this morning (Thurs) that Mayor Kilpatrick can attend the Democratic National Convention in Denver later this month. And Townsend says the mayor will be allowed to attend the convention without a tether.

“I also don’t think that the people of the city of Detroit and the state of Michigan should be represented by a person wearing prison clothes or wearing a tether.”

Late last week, Judge Thomas Jackson ordered Kilpatrick to wear a tether…and restricted his travel to Wayne, Oakland and Macomb Counties. That ruling came after another judge found that Kilpatrick had violated his bond conditions.

The prosecutor’s office says it’s filing an appeal of Judge Townsend’s bond modifications.
