First time I heard these songs:
Asobi Seksu - Walk On The Moon (shoegaze at its very best)
Arcade Fire - Intervention (words can't describe...)
Secret Machines - Alone, Jealous and Stoned (ok so i thought it was the new Travis song and i temporarily lost control as I thought all my prayers had been answered but my god, is this not the best intro to a song EVER?)
Stars - Elevator Love Letter
The Walkmen - The Rat (one of the first songs that got me interested in more obscure bands. you would never heard something this good on Top Of The Pops!)

That song made me stop and listen very carefully when I heard it on Without a Trace. I knew the song but I don't remember ever having heard Jeff Buckley singing it before. Absolutely amazing.

Yup, it's right at the end of The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, it's just an eerie, beautiful tune
Edit* I really should find out what she's singing about one of these days |
