Hey Paul, I've just had a listen to Home and you're other songs on myspace and I'll be as honest as I can as you invite us to.
I like Home more than the others, a construction/structure I prefer, it drives you, the music is telling a story and unfolds in parts. The lyrics are a bit repetitive but that's ok in the more "rock" context of this song.
Regarding your voice you have the biggest necessary asset : you sing in the key/tune! I can hear that you're not "placing" your voice at its best, maybe pushing it a bit to high or too loud, trying to sound perhaps too "rock" and holding notes longer than you can/need. I do apologise if I sound harsh cause I mean exactly the contrary : you've got lovely qualities there than are only waiting to be improved and I would really imagine that you could benefit a lot from singing lessons.
The intro of One million reminds me of "Dreams to remember" by Otis Redding. I like this song better at the second listen, romantic of course and melancholic. Your voice needs to be more present, not in beeing louder but in the mixing which needs to be more at the front. The backing vocal is lovely but does it need to be as present? I think it's taking the listener away from your voice and the story you are telling us. Regarding the way you place your voice in this song, I really think that you would sound fantastic if you worked your breathing when you're holding notes for example.
This is somehow what I mean : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=om7xB6Q7CR0&feature=related

Thank you so much for your advice. It's been more than helpful, and i really appreciate your honesty. Brilliant, thankyou!
As for 1MK, i know that the mix isn't right. In fact, it wasn't me that did the mix. People have told me i need to turn myself up, but that one was out of my control i'm afraid. Actually, 'Home' is the first time i've mixed/mastered anything myself! And i'm still remembering it's a demo, so all your advice will be taken on board for the 'real' recording :)
Thank you so much for your help and your advice. It's been very helpful :)
Great song, but it's true I have a little preference for One Million Kisses. But I have to say after listening Home 3 times I began to have the song in my mind. And I think the most important for a song it's to stay in you mind easily. Oh! by the way when you say in Myspace that in your influences there's Travis, are you sure :p ...

Bonjour Paul, I'm really glad and relieved, so many people ask for advice/criticism and can't take it when it comes!
How funny that jazz and Chet Baker made their way in this chat! Take care.
