I just thought I would update everyone on this...
I have successfully renewed the domain, so the good news is that when the site is back up, it'll be at the same address it's always been. The bad news is that it's still "locked" which means I can't update the DNS information to have it point to the correct server. The customer support I've been getting has been helpful, but it's very slow going, so I imagine the site will be back up by the weekend.

The site should be back by tomorrow. The domain has been renewed and the DNS updated. The changes can take up to a couple of days to propagate, but it might even work right now for you.
