I'm glad to hear we won!
you get CBC in the states?
I don't know a-boot the rest of the states, but in Detroi-et, we grew up watching Hockey Night in Canada, eh! :)
Yeah, and Don Cherry's Grape Vine
Cross Canada Curling
Polka Dot Door
Canadian Sesame Street where you learn French instead of Spanish
Simon in the Land of Colored Chalk Drawings (I think that was on CBC...or was it part of Captain Kangaroo?)
and of course, The Friendly Giant
Ahhh...yes! The memories. As much as I disagree with a lot of what Don Cherry says, especially his feelings on European players, you can't help but appreciate the guys love for the game and his crazy ass suits. Plus, he's a HUGE Steve Yzerman fan.

Oh man, that was such a misuse of "eh." Generally it follows a question that isnt quite retorical, but doesnt actually need an answer.
eg- "Nice weather today, eh?"
Do Cdn pronounce Detroit differently than Detroiters/Americans? (is that what you are called if you are from Detroit?
Did you watch Dr. Dressup? Bc that is quintisential Cdn. |

oh, and i was at this book launch gala thing last night for a friend who wrote a book, and i had him sign it for me, and he wrote "go wings" in it. My book is a Red Wings fan, i guess.
Also, i won a Sens autographed pic and stick at the silent auction after begging 5 people to stop bidding and explaining that i deserved it more by showing them the Sens picture on my phone. |

Yes, think "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_8s2zsNhSM
In a musty old hall in Detroi-et they prayed
At the Maritime Sailors' Cathedral
Yeah I watched Mr. Dressup quite a bit. Although I have to say I was completely shocked when I found out that Casey was supposed to be a boy. Finnegan ruled! |

I love gordon Lightfoot (and actually randomly broke into "Sundown" earlier this evening.)
So i shouldnt be pronouncing it like Gord?
I was obsessed with Mr. Dressup's tape dispenser. I'm odd.
I missed the game tonight but I just read about the Ribeiro slash at the end. Sounds nuts.
edit- just saw the slash. not cool.

ah, but did you see Osgood's little move that provoked it? Ribeiro shouldn't have slashed him, but Osgood wasn't so innocent there! |

Actually, no, I didn't see what provoked it. All I saw was that big bully slashing my poor little Chris. :o(
I listened to part of it on the radio while I was out on a wild goose chase to find a 26" fluorescent bulb (must be a special order). I cannot "visualize" the game well enough to just listen to it. I got home in time for the second period and TV is much better. |

Kristy, I know I totally used "eh" wrong. I was bein' silly. :P But yeah, Canadians do say Detroit differently. :)
Great game last night!!!!! Even with the NHL's #1 playoff scorer out of the lineup! Poor Franzen...hope he won't be out for much longer. Boy, Dallas looks frustrated and are starting to play dirty. What Osgood did wasn't even close to how Ribeiro retaliated with a two handed, baseball-like swing of the stick across Ozzie's chest. Not cool. Not only that, by what was up with Turco punching Holmstrom in the back of the head all night? He has a right to play in front of the net. Dallas could do the same if they had a guy with that type of skill. Just because the Stars D can't keep him from the front doesn't mean he should get punched in the back of the head. Turco should have been penalized for that crap.
On to Dallas!!!!!! Go Wings!!!!! :D |

My calling out of "eh" was meant totally in jest. I realized after i posted it that it sounded serious, but i totally meant it as a joke.
And as for our different prounounciation of "Detroit" all i can say is that we are generally pretty different on a lot of things. lol. |

Oh, I forgot to mention how happy I was to hear GREAT BIG SEA's "Ordinary Day" on the commercial for the Hockey Hall of Fame!! A GBS spot is on par with the rarity of a Travis spot around here.

*sigh* I've never been to the Hockey Hall of Fame, but I really, really want to go someday. I wanna see the Cup in person and read the names....and point to Steve Yzerman's name and get my picture taken, lol. :O) |

What Ozzy did was so damm stupid, he could have blinded Ribeiro and then for him to go down like a ton of bricks from a slash when he can take a 100mph+ slapshot to the chest with no bother was embarrassing. Saying that the slash was a bit of pathetic thing to do too.
Turco should have called Ozzy out to centre ice. At the end of the day though the only thing that matters is the result but in finishing if you're going take down a Red Wing do it properly
