I Came in Through the Bathroom Window Posted Tue 16 Sep, 2008 1:59 PM |
Uh, 3 hours a day? That's a lot!!
I'm 30 min away from work, 40 from the house of the girl I tutor and 45 from college.
It all depends on what I'm doing that day (I don't have the same routine every day). The worst travelling days are fridays. I spend 3 hours and 50 minutes on buses or the tube. |

Sorry Laura, your commute blows.
Mine is anywhere between 20 and 40 minutes, depending on traffic.
I know there are some downsides but in some ways it'd be nice to be on a train or bus where I could zone out.
Will you use your time to make more smiley faced creations? |

Yeah, I'm sort of looking forward to the train bit but I think the bus part will be crappy - it's a cross city route and it will stopping/starting all the time....I find that really frustrating when you just want to get somewhere and all these inconsiderate people are either getting on or off the bus!!! |

Laura! Welcome to my world!
I get a town bus from my house into the town, then get and express bus into the city. From there I then get another inner city bus to the far end of the city *yawn*. Then dander to my work!
And the same all the way home!
Good this is, I get caught up on my reading and listening to my ipod :) I used to hate it many moons ago when I had to commute to Uni but now I see it as a blessing that I can chillout and get some me time! |

I'm due to start a new job next week that will involve three hours of commuting a day. Um, I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself as I only had to go 15 mins down the road to my last job! How far do you guys travel each day? Come on, make me feel better and tell me you travel two hours each way!!
I spend about 2 hours a day actually travelling and about another hour either waiting for the bus or arriving early. I leave the house at 7am and return at 6pm. You'll get used to it, if you public transport your way around you can catch up on sleep/work/life along the way! |

1 Hour to collage ... 1 hour and 20 minutes to work, traffic here sucks by the way with the whole brand-new-sucking system! |

I'm really lucky.
I walk to work everyday. It takes me 25 mins eachway and it's a really beautiful walk alongside a river and fields! Although, it's not so nice when it is cold and raining (most of the year here in the UK).
But, if it's any consolation....my job REALLY sucks!

Oh yes, I didn't include the "waiting about" time!!! lol 3 days a week my day starts at 7.30am and I am home for 7pm but for two of those days my day starts at 10.30am and im home by 9pm.............blah!!!! lol But I quite enjoy it now, but not when weather is bad and traffic a nightmare or when there is snow/ice on roads....then public transport gets delayed/cancelled/ etc |

this all sounds horribly bad! i could never have that long of a commute. I am not a morning person and it would kill me. I would have to move. |

3 hours a day ? that is MENTAL.
Find a wee room where you work and spend part of the week there otherwise you'll be knackered all the time. |

I am not a morning person either but the travel and fresh air wake me up so I am kind of resonable and pleasent by the time I get to work. Otherwise everyone gets scowls, grunts etc. Esp people who try to sit next to me in the morning.....give me my space damn it!!! lol I also need coffee first thing....don't even speak to me until I have had it! I can be nasty first thing. lol |
