you're going during indian summer but there could be a chance of cooler weather at night , that coast drive is a long one, expect alot of unwashed hippies in Santa Cruz but the nicest redwood is the aptos blue .

I don't know about the west coast but at least here the train system is pretty awful. Really slow, weird schedules, not particularly cost effective. Every train trip I ever looked into would get me to my destination at 1-2 a.m.

Greyhound buses can be OK if you want to be on the road to see the country. I've only used them a few times in college and it was for fairly short trips.

good stuff... i think i'll def have left sf by that point though, unless i end up just getting a flight.

sulk much - i REALLY wanted to go by land!!!
