that's a nice choice. the vocals are lovely as is the whole song. initially me and jonesy felt that the "battleship...down" line was a tad hokey, but if you just go with the "vibe of the thing" it is indeed a great aural experience.
Actually the "battleship down" was the part that hit me in the beginning. It does sound cheesy on its own but I like how the chorus is concluded with it. Negates the cheesy factor quite a bit I think. |

"Elephant Gun" - Beirut
With its equally fantastic video
Also in love with:
"I'll Kill Her" - Soko
"Sea Lion Woman" - Feist
"Big Chair" - Travees
that beirut song/vid are definitely interesting, will need a bit more of a listen to really dig it (which is always the hallmark of decent music i don't have to tell you that).
i'm liking what i'm hearing out feist's album too, there's a song "past in present" or something, it's really good. |

Definitely it took me a while to get into Beirut but it's fantastic music once you begin to like it and before long you want to up sticks and join a Balkan orchestra.
Fesit on the other-hand is totally accessible and utterly beautiful, her voice just keeps getting better and better with every album. Why she isn't a superstar I'll never know but at the same time I'm quite happy her being semi-unknown. Far easier to get tickets this way! |

it's funny you say that, once i'd finished watching the video the melody to that song stayed with me, especially the brass riff -- maybe it's the time of night and my frazzled mental state (what with being stuck here waiting for the boss) but the music worked , very Felliniesque (oooooh).
feist is definitely a diamond in the musical haystack (pretty easy on the eye too to be honest...moving on) her voice is so great - she's dones some killer vocals with KoC on their album "Riot on an Empty Street", "Know How" and "The Build Up", cracking tunes both - her sense of harmony is so feckin' subtle but dude does it work!

Nope not heard that David Ford track but he's getting put on after Feist.
..and aye the guy from K of C is a great singer too but when Feist appears on the tracks she steals the album for me. Absolutely no comparison |

*nods*
it's brill stuff alright, is that whole album. dude the amount of feckin' doobage i went through with me mate back in limerick listening to this album! "bless the weather" is another great martyn disc. i read somewhere that he's missing a leg now, had to have one amputated :-o i think it might have to do with his weight problem and all the drink/drugs over the years. talent always falls foul of temptation doesn't it?
