I reckon the lyrics go something like this, but it's very hard to tell:

Tail Of The Tiger is. I don't know about Used To Belong.
On the back of the CD sleeve Something Anything is credited to Dougie and Fran, Tail Of The Tiger is credited to Dougie and Fran and Used To Belong is credited to Fran. |

I aint quite mental enough to pay for a download now when I can walk into HMV and buy it in, oooh, 14 hours.

Fuck, sorry guys, but Used to Belong is making me cry like a baby. It almost never happens to me to cry the first time I listen to songs. I just. Aaaargh!*isn't making sense*
I prefer Tail of the Tiger, musically, but Used to Belong was a real emotional punch. Great, great single. |

Ok... I've heard both of them and... They're great!
I mean... I love Tail of the Tiger from the first note... It's so DOUGIE.
I don't have other words.
And for Used to Belong... God, that song makes me cry. And reminds me of Quite Free. A lot. I don't know why. There's something in that song, not the lyric, the music, that reminds me quite free.
Anyway... Cheers for the lyrics.

Have had many listens by now, and both are very strong songs in my mind.
Tail of the Tiger - love the rhythm and hypnotic drums, the 'sound effects' (is that again Dougie breathing there, like in Lovely Rita? :), and the guitar, of course, although it sort of drowns out Fran's voice so it's hard to get the lyrics at times (or maybe it's just my poor English skills).
Used to Belong - a rather emotional song, i agree. Although i'd say not in a tearjerking way, but more of a knot-in-the-stomach kind of way (if that makes sense to you). Beautiful arrangement on the whole, but Fran's singing is just amazing. I love how he makes his voice sort of tremble a bit, you know, a little like Cliff Richard does (okay, okay, stop laughing, i didn't know who else to name to make my point...) And how does Fran hit those high notes is beyond me *shakes head in amazement*

Forget Cliff, I think Fran's actually Noel Gallagher in disguise.
Oasis used to have a brilliant knack of putting out b-sides that were actually much better than the a-side, and with respect to J.Smith & SA I think Travis have just done it twice in a row with Sarah and Used to Belong.
Used to Belong is just perfection, love it. To start with it kinda sounds a bit like Losing My Religion by REM (or is it just me!?), then turns into this really emotional, beautiful thing with some of the best Fran vocals I've ever heard.
Tail of the Tiger is OK, but absolutely pales in comparison. |

| WOW. Used to belong is....amazing. Fran once said that songs come from "the space between thoughts". This song must be one of those, and he really has a way of finding that space. Pure magic. |

Fran is in an absolute song-writing goldmine at the moment, Used To Belong isn't musically the best tune they've done, but it is such a good song because of the emotion, the lyrics, the brilliant quavering falsetto. Wow. |
