As a Scot myself I find it hilarious that some people haven't a clue what we're saying sometimes!
Even when a Scottish person is on TV, I sometimes struggle! Lol. |

English people certainly can't understand Scottish people, but I don't think that's the question ;)
There's lots of variants of Scottish, there's quite gentle, soft Scottish from somewhere (Glasgow area?) and there's harder, completely-incomprehensible-to-most-people Scottish (Edinburgh?). It's far more complicated than you could ever imagine :) |

(Note that I haven't quite mastered how to paste a quote...! Doh!)
Haha Nikki! For such a small country we have far too many different accents.
I see you are a fellow journalist too - Nice! |

hahaha! this is so cute :D
I had a lot of troubles with this accent when I was a kid. I thought they (all scottish) were talking in German or they were from Germany and hadn't manage to speak correctly =D
then I grew up, saw BRAVE HEART and TRAINSPOTTING and it opened my ears haha, and I found out how much I love the accent. |

i found hard to understand what they are saying, but thanks for the traslation,,,
altough i might say is easier to understand scotish accent than some american accent,,,
example,,, when travis come to mexico and fran speaks to the audience i would say 50% understands what he's sayin', and when i saw the white stripes in mexico, no one, i mean no one understood what jack white was tryin' to say, perhaps fran was making an exeption an was speaking slower, but anyway, even securty was was jumpin' while why does it always rain on me... |

I think the accent that's harder to understand (from all of the accents in english I've heard) is the one from Alaska. I can't understand a single word. It feels as if I didn't know the language at all xD. |
