I'd like to teach the world to sing...? Is that anything?
THAT'S THE ONE!!!
Thank god that turmoil is over, cheers Grinner! :) |

i dunno, could be good to raise the band's profile now that they are sans record company but with a record ready to go-
who'd have thought the band formerly dubbed "nicest men in pop" would go about nicking tunes...

quoting dougie:
"We are no longer with Independiente. we completed our 5 albums for them . and the parting was entirely amicable."
i have not heard mention of any other label just yet.
and quoting fran in the sun...ahem
“Worried? Nah, why should we be? This record is good. It’s going to surprise a lot of people.
“For the first time we are an unsigned band with a fanbase and we’re in the studio. We’ll look after the music then our manager will deal with the business side. It’s liberating. We’re all buzzing.” |

Huh! Didn't know that.
Maybe they could sign to Cynical Monkey and we could be label mates ;) |

On the subject of melody-stealing and Shakermaker...
Shakermaker illustrates Noel Gallagher's habit of borrowing from the past, as the tune for the verse was originally taken from "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing" (the song made famous from its use on Coca Cola adverts in the 1970s) by Roger Cook, Roger Greenway, Bill Backer and Billy Davis. However, this led to Oasis being successfully sued for the unlicensed use by The New Seekers and they had to pay out $A500,000 (Australian dollars). When asked about the incident, Noel Gallagher said, "We drink Pepsi now." Noel has also offered conflicting reports that he actually stole the song's melody from the Beatles' song "Flying." |
