So, what was going on in Poland during that time? They kept our passports at the desk and there were either police or military people all over. It was a little frightening at times. I know the Berlin Wall had recently come down. Berlin was interesting at that time. Very happening.

Poland was going through a huge change when you visited in 1990. That's probably why it was so scary for you. In the 1970s and 1980s Poland was under Communism and in 1990 they saw an opportunity to change to a democracy when Lech Walesa was elected President. Their first free elections were held in 1991.

Ric, your screenplay is getting very exciting.

Have you ever seen that old movie "The Great Escape?" It could be like that! I think most of the screenplay is in a thread for Juli posted by Goosey. I'm being portrayed by Dougie's wife, isn't that cool? I'm going to be her dialect coach to teach her to talk Michigan.

And if Gael García Bernal will play RAN man, then I can be his porteño coach too hehe.

I felt very curious so I just read what it says about "porteño" on Wikipedia :oP

Quote:
The porteño is typically considered an extroverted and vibrant person who boasts of the merits of his culture and is on the forefront of the latest trends.

Not all porteños are like that (I'm a porteña, so I have to say it haha).

Quote:

If Buenos Aires is far from the other capitals of the world, both in respect to distance and advances, then it is certainly true that the porteños dress in a traditional way. The use of casual shoes for porteños over 50 is rare and they usually prefer shirts and pants to jeans and T-shirts.

I never thought of that. It's funny! Not entirely true but funny xD.
