And every year they have to tell you the calorie count of a paczki. Something like equivalent to that of a Big Mac, only with more fat. |

Haha, yeah... That's true, I think. Unfortunately! |

I knew they were a little different but still good.
Yeah, tomorrow is about voting and indulging before Lent. No pancake celebrations here.
Crepe's just remind me of holidaying in Normandy & Brittany as a kid. We used to live on Crepe's when we were there. Lemon and sugar or chocolate were personal favourites!
Mardi Gras = Fat Tuesday! I learned this from playing the Who Wants to be a Millionaire quiz machines in the pub!! |

I love all things pancake, crepe, waffle.....any breakfast food basically excluding the meats.
Coincidence...early today I was changing my calendar to February (a bit late, yes I know)and noticed Shrove Tuesday and wondered what it was. |

We'll be having pancakes, mainly with lemon and sugar. My hubby is English, so we've agreed to follow his tradition on this one. Rest of the country (Finland) will be eating pea soup followed by laskiaispulla, that's a whipped cream and marzipan or jam (big debate which one is better) filled bun. Some people eat it from a bowl with hot milk and cinnamon (optional).

Part of the tradition is to go sledgeing, unfortunately we don't have much snow where I am.
By coincidence tomorrow is also our national poet's, Runeberg's, birthday, and to celebrate him, we eat these Runeberg's tarts

Lemon on pancakes is a new one to me. Like lemon juice squeezed on it, or what? |

They remind me of our 'lent buns' which are absolutely delicious. They're not so much donuts, more like Danish pastry (obviously lol)

EDIT: This picture is even more yummy, me thinks.

Freshly squeezed lemon juice, if possible, and plenty of sugar. My teeth always hurt after eating them. |

Recipe
Yeah, granulated sugar and a hefty squeeze of lemon juice. I think it's a vague relation to the crepe suzette |

Really? Hmmm, that's really different. The standard here is butter and maple syrup. |
