the nut is that little thing that the strings sit in on the neck of the guitar. the graphite acts as a lube and you'll stay in tune better . old hippie tech for Neil Young taught me this |

Oh. Well, you've seen the picture of Old Kay. I spend half my time trying to tune Old Kay and the other half playing out of tune. It's more of an approximation of "in tune." |

I can't give it away, it has sentimental value. It was my grandfather's and he died before I was born. All I have of his is Old Kay and his pocket knife.
I haven't the foggiest idea what gauge the strings are. I didn't know they came in different gauges. I've had it since I was about 18 and I haven't changed them. Do they need to be changed periodically? I know nothing about guitar care. |

I change em only when they break but maybe you should change em to have a standard set . Know if it has a truss rod ? How is the action ? place your finger on the 12th fret and look to see if it bows , if so move to a lighter gauge of strings |
