He was DPS (Douchebag Poohead Sheriff, I believe). That is so funny that you mention Jim Adler. I believe he is still the tough smart lawyer. I'll let you know. I'm sure I'll see a commercial in about 3 minutes.

I believe it was Ice-T who said it best "F@#K the Police", well at least in this case.
I think the last Jim Adler commercial I saw he was the Texas Hammer, but it's been about a year or so since :)

Just read Weirdmoms post and I was just wondering what the laws in your country say about drinking and driving... Over here the alcohol limit for driving is 0,2 per mil. Above that you get your licence revoked for a period, a fine and probably also prison. Oh and you can't refuse the breathalyser, then the police is actually allowed to bring you to the station to test your blood.

varies from state to state, Calif being the toughest. you refuse breathalyzer automatic suspension of license for a year . When they're shinning a light in yer eye and asking you to move your eyeball , they're looking for it to bounce around which means there's acohol in your system .

Ist offense here is loss of licence for a few months , big fine , two days in jail , plus you have to go to alcohol counciling that you pay for too. Here , the dept of motor vehicles and legal system are seperated , you're gonna be charged by two sep gov offices .

you get a lawyer they'll sometimes knock it down to a " Wet reckless "

if someone says they got a " douce ", most likly spelled wrong , it means they got BUSTED !

As Ric said it really varies. Even the level of what constitutes being drunk varies. Obviously in Texas you can refuse the breathalysers but then you automatically get arrested. Once you're at the station they generally get the court to allow a blood test.

The guy in this story got arrested for DUI in 2000 but it was dismissed. However the cop still charged him with his second offense. If this charge sticks then he will have to have one of those devices on his car where you have to blow into it to prove you're sober before it'll start your car.

ummmm...sorry...but this is all your friend's fault for speeding and getting caught.

And I wonder why the cop thought enough to want to test him for drinking?? I've been pulled over for speeding many times and have never been accused of drinking.

There's more to this story......I'm sure the cop is a big Travis fan and is reading this...c'mon, post up with your side of the story.... ; )

True, he shouldn't have been speeding so it's his fault for getting pulled over. He was going to let him off with a warning but then ran his license and saw he had been arrested before. That's when it all changed and he became convinced he was drunk.

He did the field sobriety test and passed. But he was still arrested because he wouldn't do the test. I think his refusal just pissed the guy off more.

The only funny part of the story is that he was searching the car (presumably for an open container) and he picked up a cup asking what it was. Apparently my friend had taken a leak in there (not wanting to pull over) and so he got to tell the cop that he was holding a cup of his pee.

So yeah, of course he was in the wrong for speeding but this cop took this way too far. My issue is more than the wife got arrested for public intoxication. That's just wrong.

I've heard so many examples of this. When people have a prior offense on their record, the cops seem to have it in for them. I'm not certain refusing breathalizers are too smart, that plan of attack has never worked for anyone I've known.
And for the record, every time I've been pulled over in Houston, I was asked if I'd been drinking. Although, I was never tested.

Yeah and the previous DUI charge didn't stick. I think it was a similar thing- he refused the breathalyser, they tested his blood, he wasn't drunk. Case closed. Until it still bit him in the butt since the arrest is on his record.

And this was a small town between Austin and Houston. I don't know about the cops up north but I know anyone who lives in the Southern part of the US can attest to what complete asses those guys can be.

450 kegs stolen from Guinness Brewery
Thursday, 29 November 2007 19:56
An investigation has been launched following the theft of 450 kegs from the Guinness Brewery on Victoria Quay in Dublin.

180 kegs of Guinness, 180 kegs of Budweiser and 90 kegs of Carlsberg were taken in the robbery.

A man driving a truck drove into the brewery yard at around 4pm yesterday afternoon and stole a trailer containing the drink, which has an estimated value of €64,000.

AdvertisementIt is understood there were a number of trailers stored ready for delivery in the yard at the time.

The driver attached one of the trailers containing the 450 kegs to his cab and drove out of the yard through the main gates.

The robbery was discovered a short time later and gardaí were called. The empty trailer was later discovered in Slane Hill in Co Meath.

In the run up to Christmas there are usually over 250 truck movements both in and out of the complex every day.

Detectives are now examining CCTV footage from the Guinness complex and surrounding area.

Anyone with information on the roughly 40,000 missing pints is asked to contact Kevin Street Garda Station on 01 6669400.

The bus will get you there yet
To carry us to the lake

Hey, the club is open
A-come on, come on, the club is open
