To me, my favorite 08' albums are "For Emma, Forever Ago" from Bon Iver and, Fleet Foxes.
Ode is also great and fascinating.:)

WHAT?!
And the killers is no 25?!How can Radiohead be at no 24!
And Duffy is NO 18????!
AND King of Leon's worst album since their first incredible youth and young manhood is at NO 5,WHATTT?!!!!!
I like Keane but they can't be no 1....
Worst of all Ode to J Smith at no 28!
Screw Q magazine..The most inaccurate poll I've seen this year!!
Ode is still my number 1=DDDDD |

Given that it is essentially looking for the most popular albums (why get people to vote otherwise?) I think it's getting on for miraculous that Ode appeared at all. Positive thinking people! |

You're probably right in some ways. That's what the majority Q magazine readers voted for.
I'm just being biased and showing extreme favoritism towards
Travis=D
My most beloved band.heh. |

I agree, it's great that they're on the list.
But if we're talking about quality... I love Keane, but this one is their worst album so far. And Ode is one of Travis' best ones! Honestly, Ode is faaaaaar better than Perfect Symmetry. |

Travis doesn't appear much on Q magazine i guess and the readers just don't really appreciate Travis as much as KOL or Keane.Who cares.
As long as we do=D |

Would be interesting to know what the Band really think of this.
On the one part I think , hey this is an astonishingly low number and Keane no 1 ??!! but then I think well , the Band are not competing musically ,( meaning their music far outshines the others ) they are competing with popularity and, they have surfaced - so yes, next one might move them further in but they may be just happy to be moving up again.
Mind you ; Quite Free and Friends haven't had airplay yet :)
Why would anyone be put off by a concept album?- anyone? |

Different people, different opinions. But it also mostly comes down to what's popular. The fact that Travis are at 28 on a chart like this, is better than anyone could realistically expect. In this country, Ode has hardly sold anything. In fact, it's sold around 60 times less than The Man Who. The quality of music has very little to do with it. Lack of promotion is a big factor. |
