Oh I will show you #1 because I am bitter about it! There were others in the top 10 that I thought were better than mine and deserved to win, but this is the one that actually one and I dont think it deserved it:

oooh, northern lights...pfft.
ps-did I mention that I am bitter?
edit: woops, their name is on it. sorry person.

Sorry I actually quite like that, They are two very good photos in their own way, I don't think can be compared, the subject/compisition/lighting/colouring etc are very different on both.

i dont think it is bad, I just dont think it deserved to win. But for the record, I dont think mine did either. I wish the top 10 was still posted so I could show you, but on the website if you click on 'top 10' it just has the winner and then other galleries of ones they liked but didnt make the top 10.
There were just 2 or 3 others that were signficantly better than that one and mine.

If it hadn't have been photoshopped to death it would be better. The stars look so false, but sometimes with The Northern Lights you get one shot at it and it's come off for them.

Actually Darran has a point, looking again at it there is a certain falseness about it.

I would like to see some of the other entries, what was the competition ?? Xmas card, Themed competition or just a Photo competition ?? I still kinda think it's like comparing apples and oranges.

Theme was Canada.

When I have some time I will go through the other galleries and see if the rest of the top 10 is squished in there somewhere.

The theme was Canada and YOU didn't send in Hockey or Moose pictures?!

The Northern Lights picture say North Pole/Fjords or Sweden/Norway to me, not Canada.

Ive never seen a moose outside of a zoo and I dont have any hockey pics that are good enough. There are people skating in my pic though, so that is part way there!

To cut this person slack, the innukshuk does make it quite Canadian, but still..booo.

I agree it is way overworked. It looks painted but not in a good way like that one shot of yours looks like a sketch (please post in this thread so people know what I'm talking about)

And seriously what is that troll looking thing?

My first thought is it looks like a cheesy greeting card painting of an alien being taken up to his mother ship by pretty lights.

Because there are greeting cards for that you know.
