So, who designs the posters? is the lettering hand made or is a font used? And if that is a font, what's it called? Nice Art Deco feel about it. Are the designs hand made or computer arts?
Anyway, truly awesome stuff. |

Dave Hunter , aka gammalyte is the artist on this one .
http://www.gammalyte.com/
He designed it all . He made up the font too . This one was probaly designed on a computor but Ron & Chuck are old school and do it by hand most of the time . Cut Ruby lith too .
The Firehouse guys often tour Europe and are teaching a workshop early next year in Manchester I believe |

So the artist designs the artwork, but the rest is done at the print shop? Did mr. Hunter decide how many inks were going to be used?
I have some modest experience on silk screens (nothing near as fabulous as this), and am truly impressed with the amount of colour and detail. Wasn't it so that those election posters were designed and printed by yourself? I think they were great. What's the procedure? What methods do you use?
Oh well, back to my dayjob, brochures for b-to-b clients on the computer.
Here's my theme tune:

Dave designed the whole thing , colors etc..... and paid most of the production costs out of his own pocket . He was there the whole time being involved and calling the shots. Sometimes the artist is outta town or in the UK like this dude , Martin Bedford outta Sheffield
so some interpretation on the printer Chuck was called for . Firehouse will print for outside artists , usually a friend , but the norm is they do it all for themselves . They graciously loan out a corner , " the Childrens corner , aka the tards corner etc.... " for the people to use . Those Political Gridlock Anti McCain ones were all done there .
All these posters are using a oil based ink , better color . My observation is in Europe it's mostly waterbased but thats probaly due to most studios there are much smaller and those fumes are brain scrambling .
Daves poster goes up on the street tomorrow , no ebay value |

I love that one! I let my husband listen to it and now he'll call me from work and tell me, "Guess what the client just asked me--Can you make the logo BIGGER? I'm paying for all this space, make sure the logo fills it!" Then we sing a chorus of Make the Logo Bigger and laugh. No one respects the empty space. |
