I was wondering the same thing! Hahaha.
Here we vote on Sundays, so most people don't work. And those who do, generally have a shop or something and they can vote before opening time or after closing time. Here voting is mandatory.
And arriba latinos! xD
Same as our system. It's on Sunday and mandatory but since people are mostly on holiday and the charge is not a great money, they prefer not to vote. If you are getting a day off, you system seems better:)

Here the elections are always on Sunday and there's about two weeks time to vote beforehand. One can also vote abroad, in hospitals, prisons and old people homes. All 18 + years old citizens receive a note to tell them where and how to vote. The voting slip is always the same, a folded piece of paper with a circle to write a number on inside. The polling stations close at 8 pm on the election day and first results are given two minutes past (the pre-votes). The final results are usually ready by 11 pm.
I've been to count votes. It was interesting and fun, but hard work.
