When I was about 9 or 10, I had a favorite book that I read over and over. It was about two sisters who were in a ship wreck and ended up in a lifeboat that took them to an island. (They were eventually rescued.) Anyway, their last name was Wallace. Whenever they would get scared they would sing "Scots, wha hae wi' Wallace bled." I never could figure out what in the heck the song was about wondered how the author expected a 9-year-old kid to understand. I get it now, but that was my first introduction to Robert Burns. |

Hey... don't feel bad. Even if you never meet this dude/dudette again, you are who you are because they have influenced you (for better or for worse) people (friends) are important. But at the end of the day... You're a pretty cool dude/ette in my eyes.

Sorry, It's not your English It's mine, I was rather pissed last night.
Scot's Wha hae is a song/poem that Burns wrote about the Scots fighting the English, It's supposed to be what Robert the Bruce said to his troops at the battle of Bannockburn in 1314, "You have bled with Wallace, now bleed with me and free your country" is the jist of it.
I prefer this, which is about the upper classes selling us out...
Fareweel to a' our Scottish fame,
Fareweel our ancient glory;
Fareweel ev'n to the Scottish name,
Sae fam'd in martial story.
Now Sark rins over Solway sands,
An' Tweed rins to the ocean,
To mark where England's province stands-
Such a parcel of rogues in a nation!
What force or guile could not subdue,
Thro' many warlike ages,
Is wrought now by a coward few,
For hireling traitor's wages.
The English stell we could disdain,
Secure in valour's station;
But English gold has been our bane-
Such a parcel of rogues in a nation!
O would, or I had seen the day
That Treason thus could sell us,
My auld grey head had lien in clay,
Wi' Bruce and loyal Wallace!
But pith and power, till my last hour,
I'll mak this declaration;
We're bought and sold for English gold-
Such a parcel of rogues in a nation!

I never thought about it before, but "make it" to mean "be there" is one of those weird phrases that doesn't mean what it says.
An example in song: (this is the first thing that popped into my mind, Manic Monday)
Have to catch an early train
Got to be to work by nine
And if I had an airplane
I still couldn't make it on time. |

It's 2 in the afternoon and I'm fucking hammered.
I know this because I'm playing music far too loud, I've just switched from Madonna's Ray of Light to Mercury Rev's The Dark is Rising, I'm playing stuff that gets me "emotional" and I don't give a fuck !!!

'tis indeed (by one of my favourite bands) there is a theory that the reason "Mexicans" refer to the "whites" as Gringos is that the brits used to sing when they were marching (Cadence) Green Grow the Rashes Oh. and Green Grow became Gringo.

I've been sitting in the same chair for about the last 10 hours, I haven't had to move as my whiskey and coke is on the table next to me. I've just realized that means I haven't peed either, that's kinda fucked up is it not ??
