WDIAROM Video: Day 4

Location: Bodmin Moor

9am. Sheep. Dougie makes friends with a little lamb. We have breakfast. A fry up. Mushrooms are
raw. Eww! Neil, Andy and Dougie are required first so they get into their clothes and disappear over the moor in a white transit.

take this opportunity to sleep a little. Ah. Then before I know it I am in the white transit heading towards location1. Rain is falling. Landscape is beautiful. All around is silent save for the noise of Chris the 1st assistant director shouting.

I have to mime to a slowed down version of WDIAROM. The finished effect will have me singing it at the proper speed but the background will be moving really fast. All the clouds moving behind quickly. The track is sooo slow.

After lunch it's time for me to get in the boot, or the trunk for those of you who are from across the water. After the boot/trunk scene it is time for super stunt action.

A stunt man is to jump off a 50 foot cliff into a natural pool. His name is Jamie. He has just spent 4 months in Thailand doubling for Leonardo Di Caprio.

Nora and Derrin have to cover him in white powder to give him that healthy, translucent, Scottish glow. Jamie has broken his back twice and had numerous injuries. Jamie is what they call a 'professional nutter'.

He is happy. Likes his job. Travels around the world doubling for lightweights like myself. Gets paid a fortune. Nora accidently nicked the back of his neck whilst cutting his hair. Drew blood. He didn't flinch. Impressive. Pain isn't in his vocabulary.

The ground he must jump from is slippy and uneven. He showed us photographs of the last stunt he did. It makes this jump look like getting out of bed. So when all of the cameras are set up, Chris of the loudest voice on the moor shouts..."And- in- 3...2...1...ACTION....." and we all hold our breath.

The noise made by a man hitting still water from 50 feet is like no other sound. We all whooped and cheered when he emerged. I forgot to mention that the water was very, very cold. He did the jump again for extra shots and then was gone. Tomorrow we move location to 'The Floating Set'. Everyone is knackered. We leave the moor at 9pm.
