Well I think today was a pretty crucial day. Feels like we have really turned a corner.

Two things have come to fruition. The Suze song was pretty much wrapped up over the course of the afternoon. Her husband Adam came in to have a listen. He is a fantastic guy A great friend of the band and an amazingly talented musician. He produced some early demos with Franny back in ’95 including a really beautiful version of “Luv”. Anyway he seemed to love what we’d done with the song. I think it sounds pretty marvellous too.

We moved on to the song we were working on yesterday. The one that used to be a bit fey but was turned around by Neily’s beat.We started tinkering with some interesting stuff. Then got a bit peckish and went out for a curry with Adam. A fine chicken madras and a large cobra ( beer not snake) left us feeling spicy enough for an evening of enjoyable overdubbing.

We had all sorts of toys at our disposal and went through a pretty good process of pruning back what was there and popping in interesting little bits. By the end of the evening this one sounded pretty marvellous too. Just as we were leaving we realised that we had forgotten to get KT to sing one word of the B.Vs.. Oops. Stupid boys. She has very kindly agreed to come in tomorrow.

We made up a C.D. of the 2 tracks and listened to them very loudly in the car on the way home. Crikey.I’ve been using that word a lot recently, I find it quite preferable to swearing.

Today’s listening and viewing pleasure included some absolute delights. I found, hidden in the new “Band” box set, a DVD that had some incredible footage of them rehearsing in Woodstock. Fucking hell they were a great band. Sometimes only swearing will do I’m afraid.

(web team note: The Band have long been Travis favourites - they have covered their song "The Weight" and also recorded the album Good Feeling in Bearsville, where The Band also rehearsed and wrote)

I was also delighted to work out how to put videos on my iPod. I promptly downloaded Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” which sent me back to my childhood. There is a joke in there somewhere but I am not willing to pick up that baton.

Andy then played us some of this great woman called Florence Foster Jenkins. She was a terrible singer from the 1930s who thought she was incredible. Her recitals became a kind of cult of the time. Really funny but somehow quite touching.
