Day 6: Norway: Album 7

I ran 17km this morning. It was raining. Still, it was beautiful running up beside big hills. Not sure if they are mountains. Pretty bloody big. When I got back I stood in the Ice Sea for a while. I read that ice baths are good for stopping muscle ache. My legs were very sore.

Anyways today we began working on a new song called Warning Sign. Not to be confused with Coldplay's Warning SIgn so don't confuse it.
We used a fair bit of the demo as the foundation and spent the day adding parts. Replaying acoustic and bass guitar. Overdubbing drums and then finally at the end of the day, around about 11pm, vocals.

Now there was a couple of different ways to sing this. We had a little help from someone we'll talk about later but for the moment he's swedish and writes huge pop songs. He heard the song from our producer Michael Ilbert and thought the chorus could go up more, take off, so wrote a new chorus and sent it over.

It certainly took off. Only thing was that it was super high... much like Dougie's song the other day but having reached those notes I felt I could get up there for this. I haven't sung this high in years... The results were super poppy and sounded good. But The lyric from the original chorus and it's lilt have a subtler hook that I felt could dig deeper and yet the big new pop chorus sounded big and poppy.

So we decided to sleep on it and called it a night at 2.30am. My friend friend Bernt had been over and we sat with a whiskey watching Monty Pythons Flying Circus.
I fell asleep listening to what we have so far. It's nothing like J. Smith. That's for sure.
