Day 3 : Norway : Album 7

Well, hello everyone.
It's been a long a time. Woke up to another beautiful morning in GIske.

Bright blue sky, clear water and excellently chilly air. We had a good day's work yesterday so everyone is in a buoyant mood. 'Mother" is sounding very very good.

Fran and Nick indulge in their, now regular, morning dip in the freezing water. The inhuman noises they produce will never not be funny, (we will arrange a downloadable recording of these).

When they are thawed out and dry they go off to town to get some mallets for neil and guitar supplies for the rest of us.
I make a pot of coffee and Andy and I go into the live room. We start a little odd abstract jam. It is very fluid and meandering, lots of loops with both of us playing pianos, but it starts to get a bit interesting so Michael records it. Could turn into something.

We listen to Mother and I double the bassline on telecaster to give it a bit more pop.
Then we start prepping for the next song.
Neil and michael get the vintage Ludwig kit they have here sounding amazing. And when the chaps get back from town we start working on "Moving". This is the song that we soundchecked a little bit at the show in Norway.

Everyone is playing so well at the moment and Michael is making everything sound so good that it all falls into place pretty quickly. Neil, in particular, plays a blinder.

It is one of those relentless motoric Neu style things that I love so much but that are thoroughly hard graft for drummers.
We get the take and then take a break for dinner and watch the England game. As a Scotsman, at the moment, I have no right to comment on football so I will refrain from doing so.

After dinner andy goes in and does some guitar overdubs. And then fran does loads of vocals. He's singing great and this tune is fucking motoring. Thoroughly into it. Lyrically it name checks a band called Toy who are well worth checking out if you haven't already.

Andy and I do a bunch of harmonies and suddenly it is very late and bed is beckoning.
See you tomorrow you beauties.
