First Day of ' Turn' Video shoot On a Housing Estate in Deepest Hackney

Arrived on location at 8am. We are filming on a housing estate in Hackney. Tower blocks all around. Tower blocks that will soon be blown up. But not on this video.

This video promises to do me in for good, well my arms anyway. A fitness trainer came to the studio 3 weeks ago and set me up on an extensive exercise course meant to build me up a bit and prepare my wee body for some serious video punishment.

Press ups , sit ups, warm ups, warm downs and even exercise games to make it more interesting. Like press up poker. Pick a card and do as many press ups as the card says, so if its a 5 of diamonds you do 5. All face cards =10 press ups.

I didn't do a thing so today was difficult. My arms feel like they've been tumble dried. Nora has just run me a bath with lavender.

Anyways, we have Ringan Ledwidge directing. Ringan is from London and directs commercials. He is a lovely man as well as being extremely talented. Cool.

Andre is our camera man (D.O.P. = Director of Photography) and was responsible for Resevoir Dogs and PulpFiction. Another lovely man, eccentric, Polish and has a shine to him.

We have been very lucky in the teams that have produced all of the videos on 'The Man Who'. There has always been a nice vibe on set. Maybe it has something to do with the producers being women, apart from the Driftwood video, but Hammer and Tongs are all in touch with their feminine side (big lovely ladyboys at heart) so that counts as well.

There is a sports massage guy called Richard who will be my companion for the next couple of days. I get a good rub down before we start.

I am not a massage kinda guy but feel amazing afterwards. So we get going and all at once I'm assuming press up position.

The video is based on a bet between Dougie, Andy, Neil and myself. I've said I can press up from 9am until Midnight for ?100. All too soon it begins to hurt ( like after about 10 minutes and in real time ) and I'm wishing that I'd done some training.

The boys seem amused but concerned. There is a wee bit of talking in this video where the music dips slightly and dialogue happens. The first dialogue is between me, the band and a caring young woman who wants to know what I'm doing. Ringan, as a director, doesn't interfere. He just lets it all happen naturally and Andre films.

The massage man is very thorough as I have the big rub down after lunch. Loads of things ache. I have a double who stands in on a couple of wide shots. We have to swap clothes while he does his bit.

After lunch we do the scene when the girl comes back with a drink for me. Acting knackered is piss easy. She puts the drink down and I press down to it and drink.

The girl is an actress who has been on T V in the UK. A programme called 'The Dream Team'. Her name is Julie, she looks like a wee mouse and is a brilliant actress. She has acted since she was 11 and came up the hard way. The hard way is always the best way.

Today we finish early at 8pm and as I said Nora has just run me a bath. I can smell the lavender.
